Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Project Manager to join our Grid Services team in Statkraft UK with a focus on battery energy storage systems. The person would report into the Principal Project Manager within the Greener Grid Parks team. The Grid Services team develops Greener Grid Parks providing stability services to the National Energy System Operator (NESO) and energy in the electricity market.

Your role

  • Be responsible for developing ~ 2 projects.
  • Participation in upcoming tenders throughout the year.
  • Leading in the project management of GB grid services and energy storage projects at all stages of project development from site identification through to pre-construction activity;
  • Having full responsibility for management of project budgets, programmes and schedules from early-stage development to point of construction;
  • Managing external and internal consultants including planning consultants, land agents, legal advisors and technical experts;
  • Responsible for obtaining planning permissions, consents and licences also including discharging pre-commencement planning conditions, and variations as required;
  • Regular reporting on project progress, providing insightful risk and opportunity analysis to management;
  • Preparing and coordinating internal decision gate documentation.
  • Engagement with the team and developing an understanding of the market.
  • Engage with legal, land, compliance, health and safety, commercial, grid connection and engineering colleagues to integrate these specialisms in your projects;
  • Engage and negotiate agreements with landowners and representatives;
  • Stakeholder management especially landowners, agents and local community;
  • Coordinating with financial and technical colleagues to determine optimal strategy for your projects with consideration of project risks;
  • Support development and implementation of all grid services projects, opportunities and Greener Grid Parks as appropriate;
  • Supporting and mentoring other team members.

Qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject e.g. renewables, engineering, planning or environmental and sustainability studies.
  • Experience in the energy (or relevant) industry with a demonstrable track record of successfully achieving targets. Entry level will be determined by experience.
  • Independent self-starter, with attention to detail with the ability to manage a variable workload to key deadlines, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues.
  • Excellent written, fluent English, with presentation and communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel and other MS applications.
  • Ability to manage several projects and relationships simultaneously including landowners, authorities, advisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepared to travel (majority UK wide).
  • Ability to work in the UK.
