What They Do

Viegand Maagøe specializes in consulting and communication services focused on energy optimization, the green transition, sustainability, and ESG strategies for both public and private sector clients (source: viegandmaagoe.dk). Their expertise includes technical consultancy on ecodesign and energy labeling, EU policy advisory, sustainability reporting aligned with CSRD/ESRS standards, corporate storytelling, and PR campaigns centered on renewable energy projects (source: viegandmaagoe.dk). The firm serves a diverse clientele including private companies, Danish municipalities, state institutions, and EU bodies such as the European Commission and European Investment Bank (source: viegandmaagoe.dk). Their competitive edge lies in combining technical energy expertise through their subsidiary VHK with deep EU regulatory policy knowledge via VM Europe, enabling specialized advisory services for clients navigating complex sustainability regulations and the EU Green Deal (source: linkedin.com).

Projects & Track Record

Among its notable projects, Viegand Maagøe led the "Electrification of the Food and Beverage Industry" initiative for the Danish Industry Foundation, focusing on decarbonizing this sector (source: stateofgreen.com). The company also managed communication campaigns for Nordic Business Light's LED replacement project, which upgraded lighting in 700 COOP stores across the region (source: viegandmaagoe.dk). Additionally, Viegand Maagøe conducted a comprehensive survey mapping the economic dynamics of the life tyres environmental system, which served as a foundational reference for a Danish national publication on sustainability (source: mst.dk).

Recent Developments

In 2024, Viegand Maagøe expanded its EU advisory capabilities through two strategic acquisitions. In February, it acquired VHK, a Dutch-Belgian technical consultancy founded in 1984 specializing in EU environmental policy and ecodesign (source: vhk.nl). Later in November, it acquired the EU Policy team and Brussels subsidiary from COWI, adding 19 EU experts and establishing the VM Europe subsidiary to bolster advisory services for EU institutions on sustainability policy (source: linkedin.com). These acquisitions increased the EU advisory team to approximately 40 staff members working on contracts for the European Commission and European Investment Bank (source: linkedin.com). In March 2023, the company joined the UN Global Compact as an active SME participant, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable business practices (source: unglobalcompact.org). Additionally, in early 2026, Mette Søs Lassesen was appointed CEO, marking a leadership transition while founders remain partners (source: linkedin.com).

Working There

Viegand Maagøe offers roles primarily in consulting departments focused on energy optimization, ESG, sustainability reporting, and EU policy advisory, with key office locations in Copenhagen and Brussels through VM Europe (source: linkedin.com). The company culture emphasizes driving sustainable change at the intersection of technology, finance, people, and behaviour, fostering an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment where senior executives hold partner positions and ownership stakes (source: stateofgreen.com). This structure supports a dynamic workplace focused on impactful green transition advisory services.
