We are seeking an experienced Head of Market Operations to join our global Energy Storage Business organization in the rapidly growing renewable energy market. This is a unique opportunity to join a newly carved-out business, taking full ownership of building treasury market operations from the ground up.

As a Head of Market Operations your work will include contributing and working together with the Head of Treasury in relationship management of the financial institutions and lenders of the business. You'll be working as a part of a close-knit team where your contributions are visible, valued, and directly influence company performance. You will report directly to the Head of Treasury.

The ideal location for this position is Helsinki, Finland, however we would consider suitably qualified individuals based in Vaasa or Turku.

Responsibilities include

  • Providing Group companies in their internal funding needs with optimal solutions, also minding tax aspects.
  • Maintaining and developing tools for forecasting and monitoring the liquidity needs. Establishing thorough understanding of drivers behind Group's operating cash flow and working capital
  • Contributing to maintaining and developing working capital financing arrangements
  • Support in maintaining diversified sources and adequate availability of long and short-term funding in accordance with Wärtsilä's policies and financial objectives, mitigating refinancing risks
  • Assisting in maintaining group level and local credit facilities with banks and financial institutions
  • Providing treasury related trainings to the internal stakeholders and contact persons
  • Contributing to the reporting of financial risks, treasury transactions, and contingent liabilities of the Group and dialogue with the external auditors
  • Owning the compliance and sanctions dialogue from Treasury's perspective. Advise the business sales and trade compliance teams as needed
  • Continuously develop the processes, systems, tools and reporting and presentations that relate to the market operations, inhouse bank and trade finance. Active participation in development projects in Treasury area

As an ideal candidate you should also have

  • Strong proven background in funding and market operations, with minimum of 5 years of working experience in a large corporate or bank, preferably in multinational context
  • Profound knowledge and experience of the financial markets, debt capital markets, financial instruments (including their mark to market valuations) and dialogue with banks and financial institutions
  • Hands on experience short-term liquidity management and funding
  • Hands on experience of FX and interest rate hedging, derivatives and money market, and. Previous experience of commodity hedging considered as advantage
  • Positive team player attitude with willingness to take the extra mile, support change and handle demanding situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Previous supervisory role considered as advantage
  • Comfortable with professional dialogue with all levels of the organisation
  • Master's degree, majoring in finance or equivalent relevance
  • Knowledge of IFRS rules applicable to treasury business
  • Solid command of verbal and written professional English. Other language skills considered beneficial
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Previous good knowledge of FX trading tools
  • Previous experience of process, reporting and workflow automation considered as advantage
