Kaluza

Company Overview

Name

Kaluza

Headquarters

London, England, United Kingdom

Founded

2019

Size

Approximately 50 employees (source: linkedin.com). Revenue figures are not publicly disclosed as Kaluza remains privately held without a parent company beyond its OVO origins and key shareholders like AGL and Mitsubishi Corporation through joint ventures.

What They Do

Kaluza is a London-based energy software company that specializes in a real-time SaaS platform designed to optimize energy operations, integrate smart devices, and support decarbonization for utilities worldwide. The company was launched as a spin-out from OVO Energy, which recognized the need for a platform capable of managing smart meter data, EV chargers, solar inverters, and dynamic tariffs to facilitate the sustainable energy transition. Kaluza's technology is built on a cloud-native, modular architecture that leverages AI-driven forecasting to enable dynamic load balancing and renewable integration, making it a pivotal player in the energy sector (source: sustainabletimes.co.uk).

Projects & Track Record

Kaluza has made significant strides in the energy sector, notably powering OVO's acquisition of a large UK incumbent, which allowed it to consolidate tech stacks and become the UK's fourth-largest energy provider. The company manages over six million meters and has successfully delivered over 100 GWh of load optimization through its innovative tariffs. Major ongoing projects include deploying its platform for AGL Energy in Australia, following a substantial $100 million investment and licensing agreement, as well as a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation aimed at enhancing energy solutions for utilities and automakers in Japan. Additionally, Kaluza signed a multi-year global agreement with Engie in September 2025, which will enable real-time intelligence for distributed energy resources across Engie's extensive consumer contracts (source: eurelectric.org).

Recent Developments

In June 2024, Kaluza secured a $100 million investment and licensing deal from AGL Energy, which significantly boosted its valuation to $500 million. This investment is particularly timely, given the current volatility in energy prices and the growing demand for EV and solar solutions. Shortly thereafter, Kaluza launched a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation to expand its operations in Japan, targeting utilities and automakers. In September 2025, the company further solidified its market position by signing a multi-year global agreement with Engie, which followed a rigorous technology evaluation process. This agreement will facilitate the optimization of distributed energy resources across Engie's markets, showcasing Kaluza's leadership in the energy transformation space (source: kaluza.com).

Working There

Kaluza offers a dynamic work environment with roles spanning engineering, product development, commercial/sales, operations, and sustainability. The company is focused on building teams that specialize in various platform modules, including energy optimization, billing, customer care, and data intelligence. Recent leadership additions, such as a Chief Commercial Officer, reflect Kaluza's commitment to expanding its teams in key markets like the UK, Australia, Japan, and the US. The company culture is mission-driven, emphasizing innovation and a shared goal of accelerating the clean energy transition. Kaluza's B Corp certification and commitment to net zero by 2030 further illustrate its dedication to purpose-led operations (source: kaluza.com).

Job Description

Kaluza is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today's challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future. Leveraging Data, AI, and real-time decision-making we turn energy complexity into growth opportunities for our partners.

By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Kaluza makes clean energy dependable and affordable.

With teams across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen.

What will I be doing?

Lead the localisation efforts for our global energy billing platform, ensuring it meets the specific regulatory, market, and cultural requirements of France, from meter read to bill. You'll be in charge of the French localisation of the Billing Module-one of the core product domains at the heart of the Kaluza platform. The Billing module processes consumption, pricing, and account data to schedule, calculate, and generate accurate, timely, and compliant invoices throughout a customer's lifecycle. The module automatically manages billing cycles, generates bills, handles corrections, and produces the data that feeds invoices, billing-related communications, payment schedules, and downstream financial reporting, while powering customer and agent UIs.

This is a hands-on, full-stack product role - you'll work across the whole domain and alongside PMs from other domains and from the global billing teams to ensure the overall billing journey from meter to bill meets the requirements of French clients.

  • Collaborate intensely with clients and in-country experts to understand their unique needs and requirements, negotiate scope, and build a roadmap.
  • Deep dive into French energy market regulations, translating complex compliance needs into detailed product specifications for the billing system.
  • Define and manage detailed product requirements for features related to country-specific needs from getting a read to generating a bill (meter reading protocols, invoice formats, taxation rules, payment methods, and regulatory reporting).
  • Work closely with engineering, UX, and QA teams to ensure the successful implementation and testing of localised billing functionalities.
  • Act as the go-to expert for global teams on specific French market nuances related to energy billing and customer journeys.
  • Continuously monitor changes in French energy legislation and market practices, proactively adapting the product roadmap to maintain compliance and competitiveness.

About You

Ideally you'll have/be:

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager, or equivalent role in software companies, with a strong track record of successfully localising complex software products for international markets
  • Solid understanding of the end-to-end B2C billing lifecycle including meter data, tariffs, invoicing, and debt management.
  • A track record in regulated markets where billing complexity matters, energy, telecoms, financial services, or similar. Familiarity with the French energy market (ENGIE, CRE, switching, tariff structures) is advantageous.
  • Exceptional ability to translate abstract regulatory text or client requirements into clear, actionable, outcome-driven requirements for development teams.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, legal, operations, client success) to deliver localised solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder and client management skills, able to lead conversations across requirements, scope, expectations, and roadmap alignment, and communicate technical & market complexity clearly to varied audiences.
  • Proficiency in AI tools throughout all stages of the product lifecycle - from discovery and ideation to delivery and iteration.Fluent in French and English - our platform and many of our teams operate in English, so you move easily between both.
  • A builder's mindset - you're autonomous, learn fast, and aren't afraid to go deep. You're comfortable interrogating a codebase with AI tools, reading an API schema or data model, and writing a SQL query to get the answer you need.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and pace - you can operate effectively when not everything is defined, know when to make a call, and aren't afraid to escalate or ask for help when it matters.
  • Fluent in French and very comfortable in English - our platform and many of our teams operate in English, so you move easily between both
