What They Do
Flower is an energy technology company specializing in software and trading systems designed to optimize flexible power assets rather than developing traditional renewable energy projects. Their AI- and machine-learning-driven platform manages and trades batteries, wind and solar parks, EV chargers, and other distributed energy resources to maximize asset value and grid stability (source: flower.se). The platform models behavior, weather, and market data to automate decisions on charging, discharging, or trading flexible resources, unlocking predictability for asset and grid owners (source: flower.se). Their product scope includes grid-scale battery energy storage systems, green baseload, wind and solar power, demand response, and distributed energy resources, positioning Flower as an emerging grid-scale BESS developer (source: flower.se). The company targets owners and operators of flexible energy assets such as battery projects, wind and solar farms, EV charging infrastructure, and grid operators requiring balancing and ancillary services (source: business-sweden.com).
Projects & Track Record
Flower has built a strong track record in Sweden with multiple battery acquisitions and deployments. In September 2024, the company acquired Arise's ready-to-build 40 MW / 80 MWh battery energy storage system project, one of Sweden's largest battery projects (source: tech.eu). Additionally, Flower acquired Sweden's largest battery park, the 42.5 MW Bredh lla project, and activated three battery projects in July 2024—Bredh lla, Kung lv, and Hanhals—creating the country's largest battery portfolio (source: tech.eu). The company is recognized as a leading project developer for grid-scale batteries, trusted by European grid owners on both transmission and distribution networks (source: flower.se). Flower also manages a wind power PPA portfolio, including control over 11 wind farms totaling 180 GWh in Sweden, highlighting its role in flexible asset management for grid balancing (source: business-sweden.com).
