What They Do

Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, focusing on the development and operation of utility-scale wind, solar photovoltaic, and energy storage projects. The company owns and operates a diverse portfolio of facilities while also engaging in the modernization, repowering, and greenfield construction of new projects. LRE's offerings include renewable energy generation from its assets, long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with corporate and utility buyers, and a robust development pipeline that encompasses 1.9 gigawatts contracted and an impressive 20 gigawatts under development or construction across over 100 projects (source: rocketreach.co). The company primarily targets U.S. energy regions across nine states, catering to utility-scale customers such as telecommunications firms and utilities through its PPAs.

Projects & Track Record

Among its notable projects, LRE completed the 179-megawatt White Wing Ranch solar facility located in Yuma County, Arizona. This facility, which spans 1,400 acres of private land, achieved commercial operation and is supported by a long-term PPA with Verizon Communications, contributing to LRE's operating fleet exceeding 3.3 gigawatts at that milestone (source: zoominfo.com). The overall portfolio includes 24 facilities across nine states, totaling approximately 2,500 megawatts, with a mix of wind, solar, and storage technologies. Additionally, LRE is actively developing 20 gigawatts across over 100 initiatives in U.S. energy markets, although specific details on individual projects beyond White Wing Ranch are not extensively documented.

Recent Developments

In the past two years, LRE has made significant strides, including the announcement of commercial operations for the 179-megawatt White Wing Ranch solar project in Arizona (source: zoominfo.com). The company also provided updates on its financial and operational results for year-end 2024 on May 16, 2025, which are accessible via its investor relations site. Notably, LRE raised $420 million in funding around 2023, marking its latest round in the loan stage, while no new acquisitions or mergers have been reported during this period (source: cbinsights.com). The company aims to expand its portfolio to 4 gigawatts across 30 projects and is targeting a 10 gigawatt operational goal by 2028.

Working There

Leeward Renewable Energy offers a variety of roles that reflect its operational needs, including executive leadership positions such as COO, CFO, and Chief Technology Officer, as well as roles in development, operations, engineering, finance, and investor relations. The company primarily hires for its headquarters in Dallas, Texas, with no additional remote or office locations specified for recruitment (source: rocketreach.co).
