The Becquerel Institute is a research oriented consulting company providing expert advice on solar PV (photovoltaics) and electricity markets, with a particular focus in the fields of PV markets, industry analysis, PV competitiveness within the electricity markets, regulatory and policy analysis, business modelling, financial instruments, and Building Integrated Photovoltaics. Our customers and partners represent the major stakeholders in the PV sector, in Europe and globally, such as Solar Power Europe, Solar United, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), companies from the PV sector and research centres.

To effectively follow industry and market developments, we are looking for a Senior Market Intelligence Analyst.

Main missions

  1. Monitor solar PV industry and market news from various sources at national level, in Europe and worldwide in order to provide regular updates to colleagues.
  2. Collect and analyse data on solar PV market trends as well as national or supra-national policy instruments (tax credits, subsidies, …) and their possible evolution.
  3. Collect and analyse data on solar PV industry dynamics (volumes, locations, technology choices, prices …) and their possible evolution.
  4. Be responsible for market sizing, demand forecasts and supply/demand analyses (in partnership with the data analytics team).
  5. Drive market segmentation, identify new business opportunities, and provide deep dives into specific end markets.
  6. Conduct studies to determine the solar PV market potential and value for various segments and countries, evaluate the competition landscape and identify key players, and pinpoint target markets best suited for the customer.
  7. Create compelling reports and presentations to communicate intelligence findings to management, with storytelling.
  8. Contribute to the realization of proposals (commercial or research).
  9. Manage projects, from the definition of needs to the delivery, internally or as part of consulting missions and research activities (e.g., Horizon Europe)
  10. Support business development efforts.

Profile

  • Master in a strongly quantitative field, such as engineering, statistics, or economics studies (or equivalent).
  • Additional studies on the Environment and/or (Renewable) Energy is an asset.
  • 4 to 5 years of professional experience in a similar position.
  • Fluent in English (both written and oral)
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex documents and datasets.
  • Resilience, ambition, and an ability to respond to dynamic situations as well as changing policy and market landscapes.
  • Very commercial, pro-active and driven person.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture, overcome challenges & stay goal focused.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise.
  • Strong team player and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of the energy sector.
  • Advanced user of Excel, knowledge of PowerBI is a plus.
  • Ability and confidence to report to senior management in a concise and clear way.
  • Sense of humour is an asset.
