Grid Research Senior Analyst/Associate
Contribute to firm in Madrid, developing grid analysis and congestion forecasts. Requires master's in engineering, 2 years grid modeling experience, advanced data analytics skills, and fluency in English.
Based in Madrid, you will contribute to the firm, by developing analysis and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision-making. You will play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesising conclusions into recommendations. The Grid Research Senior Analyst/Associate will develop a Spanish grid model and congestion forecasts becoming the expert on grid congestion for the Iberian market.
The successful applicants will combine strong quantitative skills, dedication, and performance in team-oriented environments. Successful candidates will work in a dynamic, and intellectually stimulating yet supportive environment. We are looking for the candidate to begin their role at the start of the second quarter of 2024.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients’ decision-making;
- Being responsible for the development of our grid model in the Iberian peninsula while working closely with our modelling team;
- Develop tools to analyse model results and derive insights;
- Work closely with our modelling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results;
- Contribute to Aurora’s product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities;
- Engage with clients to thoroughly understand their requirements;
- Communicate and present findings to clients.
What we are looking for
Required attributes:
- Master’s degree in engineering or applied mathematics/physics;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience related to grid modelling is required;
- An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information;
- An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties;
- Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g. Python, R, Matlab);
- Genuine interest in understanding power market dynamics;
- Self-starter and proactive mindset;
- Fluency in English.
Desirable attributes:
- Knowledge of power system simulation tools;
- Knowledge of the Iberian power markets;
- Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish.
