Purpose of the Position

As the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at GEMS Mexico, your role is pivotal in shaping the organization’s commercial strategy and driving margin growth for both Electricity and Gas B2B sales, while contributing to decarbonization of operations.

Responsabilities and Job Functions

  • Commercial Strategy
    • Develop the commercial strategy for B2B Gas and Power supply activities, in close cooperation with product teams.
    • Implement the commercial plan to achieve GEMS Mexico’s strategic and commercial objectives.
    • Drive the organization toward ambitious sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Account Management
    • Create and implement relevant Go-to-Market strategies.
    • Build and implement Third Party Intermediaries (TPI) strategy.
    • Actively engage with Global and Regional/Local Accounts, in close cooperation with ENGIE Key Client Office.
    • Facilitate information flow and negotiate major deals at optimal risk/reward terms.
    • Develop and implement action plans to improve the net promoter score (NPS) of the business
  • Commercial Operations
    • Build commercial data vision and promote the systematic use of digital commercial tools (SalesForce) for data-driven decision-making.
    • Emphasize continued service excellence by working closely with client service teams.
    • Ensure strict compliance with ENGIE KYC/AML/credit risk policies
  • Team Management
    • Lead and manage the Regional Sales Officers (RSO) team, fostering a collaborative working environment.
    • Ensure strict compliance with HSSE Group guidelines to prioritize safety and sustainability.
  • Representation
    • Represent ENGIE and GEMS Mexico in industry events.
    • Organize high-impact commercial events for current and potential customers.
    • Participate actively to GEMS global Sales&Marketing workstream.

Ocupational Profile

Required educational background: Bachelor’sDegree in engineering, business, economics, or related field. Master´s degree in Business is advantageous, or an equivalent experience and education.

10 years of experience in the power sector, preferably in renewable energy or PPAs.

More than 3 years of experience in equivalent position

Strong knowledge of project finance, PPA contract terms and conditions, pricing mechanisms, and risk management.

Ability to communicate and interact with internal and external counterparties, customer service and project management.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent understanding of the Mexican Gas and Electricity markets.
  • Excellent knowledge of Electricity / Gas products and services, including risk management / trading products.
  • Excellent understanding of utility industry and energy procurement within client organizations.
  • Proven experience in managing sales organizations, especially for complex products.
  • People management skills to lead geographically diverse teams across various customer segments and products.
  • Fluent in English (Mandatory)
