With our ongoing success in business growth, we are expanding our Measurement and Verification (M&V) team and have a new opportunity for an Energy Analyst to join us to provide performance monitoring and targeting services for both our internal teams and external customers. The successful candidate will be involved with the planning and preparation of measurement strategies to ensure energy performance delivery against contracted targets. Working with all departments including the sales, project development, construction and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams, the M&V team plan for and provide technical insight to Project Developers to guide them towards improved client solutions and system performance analysis for Construction and O&M Project Managers to ensure delivery of energy and carbon savings for Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) at project locations throughout Ameresco’s UK Region. This is a hybrid position based in London or Guildford.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather site information including utility data, field measurements, metering data, and service reports to generate baseline energy consumption models and identify key variables influencing energy usage.
  • Review the energy performance analysis for proposed projects to determine the viability of success in achieving the associated energy or carbon savings including safety margins using spreadsheet-based calculation programs.
  • Support clients, internal Ameresco teams and subcontractors with introduction presentations, knowledge sharing and data gathering support.
  • Monitors savings at frequencies relating to project performance risk and in accordance with M&V plan and strategy to ensure energy savings measures perform as intended at the time intended.
  • Coordinates with Project Manager, Operations & Maintenance team and service contractors to identify energy saving shortfalls where applicable, investigate causes for savings shortfall and propose mitigating action to ensure performance against contracted targets are maintained
  • Create tools to process and store data to allow for scalable analysis and insight reporting on large quantities of data.
  • Effectively summarise, report and present the findings of analysis to applicable audiences, using data insights to support the business in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Produce, distribute and present monthly, quarterly, or annual reports in accordance with requirements.
  • Document data, information and evidence related to reports in a presentable manner, ensuring all records are maintained and easily accessible under audit.
  • Perform other M&V, O&M and compliance and associated business support duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

HNC/HND or equivalent experience

Skills/Experience

  • 2-4 years experience with programming (i.e. create tools to automatically download and analyse data from different sources including websites).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI. Experience with multiple programming languages i.e. Python (Analyst) would be advantageous.
  • Ability to analyse data for projects (experience with following systems would be advantageous: LED Lighting, ASHPs and GSHPs, Solar PV, chiller and boiler plants, EC motors, VSDs, HVAC retrofit, BMS controls and building fabric improvement)
  • Team player with the ability to work across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of principles associated with energy-savings measures would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving expertise.
  • Ability to follow through and complete tasks.
  • Knowledge of IPMVP is a plus.
