Job Summary

Leeward Renewable Energy is currently seeking an experienced Operation Control Center Associate to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the wind energy projects under normal and emergency conditions, complying with the applicable NERC reliability standards, RTO rules and protocols, and interconnection requirements. This position is in Dallas, Texas and provides a perfect opportunity for a professional looking for interesting work within a small team, the ability to expand their experience, work with all levels of the organization, and contribute to the company's success.

Essential Functions

  • Direct and support site personnel in the performance issues and service activities to restore system performance of turbines.
  • The operator actions include the authority and responsibility to shed load, remove transmission components from service, order generation on and off line and follow any directives issued by the Reliability Coordinator and any other actions needed to operate the systems within the facilities and equipment ratings and System Operating Limits.
  • Proactively monitor, control, evaluate and ensure availability and production during normal and emergency conditions providing reliable and safe operation of wind energy projects.
  • Monitor, evaluate and respond to system conditions to avoid or minimize future issues which will negatively impact the wind turbines.
  • Record, log and maintain accurate records of events occurring on the wind energy projects to ensure valid information for reporting purposes and continuous improvement activities.
  • Promptly notify the appropriate entities of system disturbances, emergency conditions, and other events adversely affecting the wind energy projects.
  • Maintain operator certifications by participating in internal and external training to ensure professional development in renewable energy technology as well as for all NERC, Regional and ISO/RTO requirements.
  • Operate the generation and transmission system within the normal and emergency limits.
  • Safely comply with all NERC and Regional Reliability Standards.
  • Ability to work independently, responsibly and with very limited supervision.

Qualifications

  • NERC Operator Certification a plus
  • PJM Generator Operator Certification a plus
  • Other RTO/ISO certifications may be considered
  • 2 years’ experience in utility or power plant operations a plus
  • Working knowledge of NERC Reliability, Standards a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in a shift schedule where necessary to ensure coverage.
  • Position will require sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifting 20-pound boxes.
  • Ability to travel within the US.
