Enviva is looking for a Scale House Operator that is responsible for all aspects of continuous operation of the Scale House, including safety, equipment operation, monitoring materials, and weighing of trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving chips or other material into the plant.
  • Inspect loads to ensure quality criteria is met.
  • Weigh incoming trucks, issue a ticket for receipt into the plant and re-weigh truck upon exit of the plant to ensure accurate billing.
  • Ensure safety of scale area and that loads are not brought in that do not meet safety criteria.
  • Keep scale and ramps clean and free of debris.
  • As first point of contact, communicate in a professional, courteous manner with our suppliers.

Qualifications

  • 1 - 3 years manufacturing/industrial experience
  • Experience in the wood industry
  • Prior industrial safety knowledge, OSHA training, etc.
  • Willingness to cross train
  • Willingness to work overtime to fill in for other scale house operators.
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to use touch-screen computer
  • Ability to identify logs, hardwood chips, softwood chips and other wood products

Working conditions

  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.

Physical requirements

  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
