Statkraft Careers

Based in Germany, you will work within our German regional project delivery team - a growing team of multi- discipline engineers, procurement, construction and quality specialists. More broadly, you will be part of an international network of engineering and technical specialists.

As a Grid Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting wind, solar and battery storage projects in Germany, from the early start of development until operation. You will lead on technical, commercial and regulatory issues related to all aspects of grid connections for both distribution and transmission connections.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support the grid connection technical workstream for projects, in support of the project manager and project development team and in collaboration with other technical specialists.
  • Act as technical expert with regard to all grid connection aspects from feasibility through to operation
  • Originate and manage the following relevant to project grid connections: feasibility studies, infrastructure planning, concept and pre-construction engineering,
  • Early phase project involvement in design basis, engineer’s terms of reference, system analysis, value engineering, risk assessment, selection of suitable equipment, constructability, cost and time scheduling
  • Plan the grid connection infrastructure
  • Prepare and quality assure technical specifications and tender documents
  • Technical support in interactions with distribution and transmission grid owners and operators, consultancies, subcontractors and other relevant stakeholders
  • Review all grid connection related documentation
  • Provide engineering support and supervision during the construction phase of projects

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering or similar
  • Several years relevant work experience, including renewable energy project development and construction in Germany
  • Extensive knowledge of grid connection design - proficiency in related software is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of the German grid code and the grid connection agreement process for renewable energy projects in Germany
  • Experience with electrical design of substations and permitting process of a substation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
  • Willingness to travel
