What we’re looking for

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated L2 Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of experience to provide on-call support during US hours (IST 6 PM - 4 AM / EST 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM). The primary responsibility includes monitoring our dashboards, proactively identifying issues, and raising Jira tickets for incidents requiring further attention. The L2 Engineer will be responsible for addressing any issues that demand immediate attention due to their potential business impact.Our engineering values are deeply ingrained in our culture-- you can read more about them here

What you will need

Key Responsibilities

  • Dashboard Monitoring: Maintain a sharp and proactive approach to continuously monitor dashboards and alert systems (e.g., Datadog, Sentry) to promptly detect anomalies or potential issues.
  • Incident Management: Proactively identify and escalate incidents by raising Jira tickets and categorizing issues based on urgency and business impact.
  • Immediate Issue Resolution: Use strong debugging skills to diagnose and resolve high-priority issues swiftly, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Documentation: Record and document incidents, resolutions, and relevant processes to improve efficiency and support knowledge sharing.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, communicating clearly on incident details and coordinating resolutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with Python for troubleshooting, scripting, and automation.
  • Strong SQL scripting skill is required
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Demonstrated expertise in monitoring tools and alert systems like Datadog and Sentry for effective and proactive issue detection.
  • Proficiency in Jira for raising, managing, and tracking tickets.
  • Effective communication skills for documenting incidents and coordinating with other teams under time-sensitive conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an on-call support role, especially in environments where downtime has critical business implications.
  • Knowledge in JavaScript & Ruby on Rails for debugging and enhancing monitoring and automation capabilities.
  • Knowledge of incident management best practices, including SLAs and escalation procedures.
  • Experience with databases like Amazon Aurora and PostgreSQL and data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes, for efficient application deployment and scaling.
