Position Summary
The EHS Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure that all employees work in a safe and fully compliant work environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensures that appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.
- Ensures, maintains all necessary permits for Environmental and Regulatory Compliance.
- Inspect machines and other equipment for accident preventing Audit and maintain acceptable levels of safety, emergency response and first aid equipment.
- Record and investigate all incidents of injury, work related illness or damage to property, partnering with the necessary parties to resolve any identified corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence and meet loss-reduction goals.
- Completes all regulatory reporting requirements (Fire, OSHA, EPA)
- Manage all different safety programs, conduct training and manage documentation, including but not limited to: Area Safety Representatives (ASR), Lockout/Tagout, Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), Evacuation Procedures, PPE, Pedestrian Safety, Ergonomics, Heat Stress, Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Conduct assessments and implement provisions of disseminating information including but not limited to advice, signs, posters, barriers and performance measures to warn employees of potential or actual safety hazards and/or to prevent access to areas where hazardous conditions exist.
- Assist in conducting H&S training and communication programs (i.e. HAZCOM, HAZMAT, Forklift etc.).
- Recognized as First Responder for the Site in emergency situations.
- May be required to assist in the consolidation and disposal of hazardous waste.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree or above major in safety engineering, or environment studies.
- Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in an EHS-related field, preferably with administrative and management responsibility in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of best practices and environmental and safety rules and regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state, and local.
- Experience and knowledge in OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements.
- Significant experience with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of property insurance, electrical, and fire code requirements.
- Ability to obtain professional certifications in safety, health, or environmental professional organizations.
- OSHA 30 and CPR/First-Aid Certified.
- Strong sense of responsibility, highly motivated, forward thinking, and proactive.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, good problem-solving skills, and “can-do” attitude.
