Position Title: Manager, Equipment (Mandarin Required)

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Manufacturing Manager

The Equipment Manager reports to the Manufacturing Manager. The ideal candidate will oversee the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of all production equipment within the e-storage factory. This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of equipment, minimizing downtime, and contributing to the continuous improvement of production processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in equipment management within the battery, cell or semiconductor industries and will play a key role in supporting the factory’s operational goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation of manufacturing equipment for the factory site startup.
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Coordinating major equipment repairs, upgrades, and overhauls, including managing timelines and budgets.
  • Supervise and mentor equipment maintenance teams, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues, providing technical guidance and support to maintenance personnel.
  • Identify knowledge and skill set gaps and develop related training programs for department.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to identify and implement equipment improvements that enhance productivity and efficiency and reduce upkeep and maintenance cost.
  • Maintain and publish accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory, ensuring availability and timely ordering of critical components.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in regular equipment meetings, inspections, and evaluations, sharing maintenance experiences and best practices.
  • Drive the team of Engineers and Technicians to participate in continuous improvement projects related to cost, quality, and service using Six-Sigma, Gemba, Kaizen, or similar applicable methodologies.
  • Plan and ensure sufficient head counts per shift as well as adhere to designated working hours to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, electronic, mechatronic or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in equipment engineering, preferably in a battery factory, Semiconductor fab, or the Electronics/Electrical industry. 3 plus years of experience in a managerial position in related industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with team members, other departments, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in supervising and leading equipment maintenance and improvement teams.
  • Strong and systematic problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues effectively and efficiently and prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated to embrace new challenges within a dynamic market environment.
  • Knowledge of tools and methodologies such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), Kaizen and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is required for this position.
