We are looking for a Process Engineering Intern to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Process Engineering and based in San Jose, CAD. This is a fully on-site, in office role.
Role and Responsibilities
- This position reports to a Senior Manager - Process Engineering and will be a member of the Product Development Engineering team.
- The internship will provide experience in new product development and first of its kind process evaluation and engineering support.
- Generate new BFDs, PFDs, update P&IDs for gas process systems.
- Participate in project/product, P&ID, HAZOP and design Reviews and update technical specifications for new and existing products.
- Review industry best practices related to process piping, instrumentation, and vendor packages.
- Develop process instrument specification.
- Conduct line sizing and hydraulic calculations for system process design.
- Contribute to hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies or failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for the SOFC system, identifying potential risks like gas leaks, or material degradation.
- Participate in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of SOFC prototypes, including monitoring parameters like temperature, pressure, and gas composition during operation.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and control engineers to integrate SOFC systems into larger energy solutions, such as carbon capture (CCUS) and combined heat and power (CHP) systems.
Skills and Experience
- Must be a junior or senior graduating by Summer 2026
- Solid understanding of process engineering principles, such as fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, separation process.
- Basic understanding of Process Engineering deliverables such as process simulation models, PFDs, and P&IDs.
- Ability to understand process safety risks and mitigations.
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic understanding of engineering tools (Aspen, AutoCAD).
- Highly motivated and a self-starter
- This internship program is from June to August 2025
