Job Overview
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) seeks an Assistant Project Manager to accelerate the deployment of quality assurance methods and services and the adoption of standards for technical and work quality to motivate investor/buyer confidence in the benefits and performance of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects across New York State.
This position is also responsible for management of quality assurance services that support programs where NYSERDA is investing directly in clean energy projects across all market sectors and technologies.
This position requires knowledge of market-based quality assurance methods and their application to the energy or construction sector(s).
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the existing field inspection and technical services managed by the Quality and Market Standards team.
- Develop and implement the application of quality assurance methods and technical standards to capital equipment installation and construction in one or more of the market sectors or technologies served by NYSERDA.
- Provide excellent in-depth analysis of managed programs, utilizing data platforms such as Salesforce and tools such as Tableau and Qualtrics.
- Develop and conduct analysis in clean energy technology operation and performance, energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy generation, environmental impacts, safety or workforce learning needs.
- Develop and manage major complex projects. Project management skills and the ability to successfully multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to demonstrate respect, equity and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years of combined relevant experience in project management, operational experience, clean energy technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and development processes; specific experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems is preferred.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent record keeping, database management and organization skills.
- Superior organizational skills, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to provide exceptional service delivery.
- Ability to build productive relationships across a diverse organization.
- Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s (or advanced) degree with 1 year of relevant competitive procurement, renewable energy, project development, financing, or operational experience.
- Excel proficiency, including accurate data entry, comfortable with multi-tab spreadsheets, grasp formulas.
- Experience working in a team environment both as an active team member; ability to adeptly manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Experienced in various systems, such as SalesForce and SiteCapture, with proficiency in data collection, analysis and visualization, tools such as Tableau and Qualtrics.
