Job Description

The HR Generalist will work closely with the Senior Director on the responsibility of Human Resources on the day-to-day functions of a broad range of HR duties. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Human Resources, this role will perform routine tasks required to administer and execute people and culture functional areas, including talent and performance management, learning and development, and culture.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with recruiting qualified job applicants for open positions, including collaborating with hiring managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings, interviewing, and facilitating required hiring procedures.
  • Assists with the onboarding of new team members. Conducts new hire orientations and offboarding meetings.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of HR.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a human resources generalist related role or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, human resources management or related experience
  • Ability to perform with high integrity and maintain high ethics and confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of human resource regulations and employment laws.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS systems and other evolving technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented culture that values the importance of being a good teammate, communicator, and partner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start, think ahead, problem-solve, and engage proactively with high professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in headquarters in Washington, DC.
  • SEIA employees in the Washington, D.C. region follow a hybrid remote and in-person office model. Employees work 3 or 4 days a week in an office environment and as needed when there are special events or meetings, but otherwise, they can be remote.
  • Minimal travel is required for this role (all-staff events and gatherings)

Compensation Range

$65,000-$70,000 annually, based on experience and an excellent benefits package.
