Job Description

Ecoplexus is hiring a Project Director/PMO to manage renewable energy projects, ensuring successful execution from development to construction completion. The role involves overseeing project management teams, coordinating with various departments, and managing budgets and schedules for multiple projects across the US and Mexico. Candidates should be self-starters with creativity and a passion for renewable energy. This position is fully remote.

We design, build, finance, own and operate projects across the US, Mexico and Asia. Headquartered in San Francisco, Ecoplexus has grown at an annual rate of over 50% per year since its founding in 2009.

Duties and Responsibilities

The overall success of projects lies in the effective execution and project management of projects. To that end, the Project Director is key to the success of projects assigned to them and responsible for the direct management of a Project Management team to oversee and deliver on-schedule, on-budget assigned projects to ensure 100% internal and external customer satisfaction. This role will start in the development stages of the project and continue through project construction completion. The Project Director establishes project objectives and procedures, maintains liaison with prime client contacts, and coordinates and monitors construction and financial activities by providing direction to project engineers, supply chain and logistics coordinators, administrative and finance staff, on-site construction managers, and subcontracted labor and design services. The Project Director will manage multiple projects assigned to them and the associated project management staff in varying regions of the US and Mexico. The PMO duties involve driving the Continuous Improvement Process within the project management group in conjunction and integration with the overall ECOP EPC team.

  • Responsible for managing key deliverables from design, procurement, construction, budget, and schedule goals of assigned projects, from project inception through project closeout.
  • Develop and implement PMO processes.
  • Accountable for Ensuring Daily, Weekly, Monthly Reporting is accurate.
  • Create, oversee and track all schedule aspects for assigned projects, from pre-approval through project close-out to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Manage the project execution team: project management, subcontractor management, scheduling, and controls/budget management.
  • Coordinate with construction management; QA/QC and commissioning, Safety, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, Development during the execution phase
  • Manage project workload projections and manpower planning and resource allocation monthly
  • Manage vendor and construction subcontractor relations, prepare/evaluate subcontractor RFPs, negotiate with subcontractors, work closely with legal counsel for contract execution, and manage subcontractor progress and performance through project close-out.
  • Manage contracts and subcontracts including tracking deliverables, schedules, payments due, managing change orders, and providing notices or dispute resolution if required.
  • Work with procurement team to identify and order long lead substation equipment negotiation and execute the contract associated Purchase Order/ associated invoices
  • Coordinate resource availability and operational needs to ensure achievement of established project goals.
  • Manage schedule and cost lifecycle of assigned projects through project closeout
  • Negotiate and manage subcontracts and subcontractor change management.
  • Serve as the primary corporate representative to the customer, permitting agencies, and other project personnel.
  • Drive the Continuous Improvement Process within the project management group in conjunction and integration with the overall ECOP EPC team.

Travel

This position will require up to 50% Travel as required to support projects.

Education and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience in electrical industries, construction or operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in power engineering design and/or project management.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP(Agile), or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in project execution.
  • Superior project management skills
  • Strong process orientation
  • Experience negotiating and administering contracts
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Competent in Excel, Word, MS Project, and Google drive
