About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Development Engineer to join our Asset Management Team based in our Calgary Head Office and will also require travel to our field sites.
This role will focus on the long-term planning and development of medium to high complexity projects across multiple stages. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capability to manage complex development processes from inception through to definition.
As a Project Development Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and developing projects with a strategic focus on maximizing the value of our assets, cost optimization, and sustainability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations and other project stakeholders, to ensure that projects meet all specifications, timelines, and budgetary requirements.
What You Will Do
- Project Planning: Lead the development of project plans with a focus on long-term strategic goals and project timelines. Create detailed schedules and milestones for medium to high complexity projects.
- Engineering Design & Development: Oversee and guide the design and engineering phases, ensuring that designs align with project objectives, cost constraints, and regulatory requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and problem resolution.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, and regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment and obtain necessary approvals.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that all resources are allocated efficiently and that the project remains within financial parameters.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (engineering, operations, procurement, other project stakeholders) to ensure seamless project development and troubleshooting.
- Performance Monitoring: Track project progress, provide regular updates to management, and implement corrective actions when necessary to stay on track.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure that all projects adhere to industry standards, regulations, and internal quality control procedures.
- Sustainability and Innovation: Incorporate sustainable practices and innovative technologies into project designs and planning.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- 5+ years progressively responsible project development experience, engineering, or related fields, with a focus on medium to high complexity projects
- Ability to work collaboratively leading a team of high-performing subject matter experts toward a common goal
- Demonstrated ability to build trust in relationships with internal and external counterparts including customers, vendors, and other project stakeholders;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective Cross-functional coordination and leadership skills
- Well-developed presentation skills with the ability to present to executive teams
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project Oracle Primavera, and project management techniques would be an asset
