Job Description
Clearway Energy Group is looking for an Operations Control Center Shift Supervisor to join the Real-Time Operations Team in Scottsdale, AZ. Operating out of the Clearway Energy Group RPMC (Reporting and Performance Monitoring Center), the team currently monitors and controls 10 GW of utility-scale renewable energy plants, Wind, Solar, and BESS. The Operations Control Center Shift Supervisor will provide direct oversight and supervision to the on-shift Operations Specialist in daily operations and activities, holding positional authority. The Operations Control Center Shift Supervisor will report directly to the Manager, Real-Time Operations. This position requires working 12.5-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous operations and monitoring of the CEG utility fleet.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide direction and supervision to the on-shift Real-Time Operations Specialist in day-to-day job activities and responsibilities
- Manage the RCA and continuous improvement process regarding real-time operations issues, mistakes, and common practices
- Assist in proactively monitoring real-time activity, performance, and operational status of all wind solar, and BESS assets
- Assist in Real-Time Operations Specialist understanding and identification of abnormal operations or alarm conditions that arise during shift and appropriately troubleshoot in a timely fashion
- Perform periodic operator log reviews for accuracy and compliance
- Perform acceptance testing on RPMC tools or applications used by the on-shift Operations Specialist
- Support commission activities of new projects
- Support and assist in the onboarding process, training, and qualification activities of new operations specialists
- Implementation of processes and procedures to assure compliance with internal controls and quality controls for customers and field personnel and distribute the information to the real-time operations specialists.
- Support and assist in RFIs, data requests, and other assigned duties
- Provide constructive feedback, mentoring, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Act as a liaison between front-line employees and management, ensuring clear communication and alignment with company goals and initiatives
- Support operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and helping best practices
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 5 years experience in power plant operations
- 4-year degree, or relevant experience may be considered
- Able to demonstrate competent technical knowledge of plant and system processes and experience in operating electrical or SCADA systems
- Able to interpret NERC, ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, PJM, and SPP regulations and requirements
- Available for 24-hour on-call duty to meet obligations to the Operations Team as issues arise
- Knowledge of functional system interactions and must be able to pay attention to critical elements in a complex and regulated environment
- Ability to make financial decisions based off real-time power plant equipment analysis and contract related cost weighting risk versus reward
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence
- Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others
- Ability to work in difficult customer situations
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience with direct reports
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback and resolve team challenges
Clearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas for this position (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).
The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations
$92,000 - $109,000 USD
