Snowy Hydro’s Corporate Plan envisages upgrading and replacement of some of its most critical assets over the next decade. This will involve some complex environmental planning and approval processes. We are looking for a Project Environmental Lead, ideally based in Melbourne, to oversee all aspects of the environmental approval process and securing new land access arrangements for some of these projects. This will include project scoping, feasibility, approval and post approval work.
This role will be an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in project development, proven experience with environmental approvals and the Victorian, NSW and South Australian planning processes, as well as renewing or obtaining land access for large infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the major project development approval processes, scoping out land access and development approval requirements
- Provide input into business cases regarding feasibility and due diligence work, relating to site selection, planning and approvals
- Preparation and review of management plans and providing regular updates to the Executive and Board, communicating related risks and mitigation strategies to senior management
- Negotiate with regulators to align project specific regulatory requirements with project timelines and business objectives
- Internally leading approval strategy planning and representing the project team in a variety of external-facing forums including site inspections with external regulators
About you
- Minimum 5 years post graduate experience in an environmental advisory or management role
- Proven experience managing the approval processes for major development projects
- Prior involvement in writing and reviewing Environmental and technical reports
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to maintain strong relationships and networks with regulatory agencies
- Environmental management or engineering qualification at University degree level
