The Position

Arevon is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist to lead and support core Human Resources functions with a strong focus on process improvement, payroll, compensation and incentives, benefits, performance management, employee relations, HRIS systems, policies and procedures, governance and compliance, auditing, analytics and reporting, and immigration. This person will foster a positive and employee-centric work culture, and ensure HR initiatives are aligned with department and company objectives. This highly visible role is responsible for owning end-to-end HR and payroll procedures in a multi-state environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing a wide range of HR functions within an in-house Human Resources environment. They should be skilled in evaluating and implementing HRIS software and other HR technologies, including developing training materials and written procedures to support these implementations. Additionally, they will oversee benefits administration, manage immigration processes, and enhance control processes and governance systems. This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all payroll operations, including payroll processing, tax compliance, wage deductions, garnishments, expense reimbursements, and time and attendance systems.
  • Lead the development, refinement, and optimization of in-house HR tools, processes, and systems.
  • Review and audit HRIS information, HR processes and procedures, and HR reporting to ensure the highest levels of data integrity and accuracy of HR reporting.
  • Lead HR new hire onboarding to ensure a smooth handoff from the candidacy stage to the offer acceptance through day one orientation.
  • Manage HRIS workflows, data, checklists, and company communications.
  • Manage and monitor background screenings and all new hire employment verification documentation including I-9 verification and E-Verify processing.
  • Lead and manage immigration activities, overseeing all employment-based immigration matters (e.g., H-1B, PERM, green card) in close collaboration with external immigration legal counsel.
  • Research, interpret, communicate, and apply federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, including navigating complex labor law compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition department on process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Manage benefits administration and compliance, including enrollment, management of vendor relationships, and employee communications and outreach.
  • Partner with company leadership to foster and uphold a positive company culture that aligns with our values and mission.
  • Manage, develop, and update HR policies and related content to support ongoing business needs and regulatory changes.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a management-level position overseeing all aspects of payroll, benefits administration, HRIS systems, employee relations, and related HR functions. Please note that Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development experience is helpful but is not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Expertise working in a multi-state company, with more than 100 employees, in a fully internalized HR environment (one that does not rely on an external PEO) is required.
  • A master’s degree or HR certification (SHRM, etc.) is a plus but not required.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including best practices and standards for ensuring legal compliance.
  • Experience managing external labor legal counsel support on a full range of employee matters.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced, growing company is a must.
  • Must possess high emotional intelligence, discretion, and professionalism in dealing with sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Strong project management experience and a high level of attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading the evaluation, selection, and implementation of HRIS systems and software.
  • Deep understanding of payroll processes, compensation and benefits administration, and legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience managing the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding. This includes overseeing the new hire process, conducting background checks, coordinating system access, delivering orientation, and ensuring a seamless transition into the organization.
  • Experience leading immigration support programs, including managing external immigration legal counsel, maintaining immigration documentation, and managing employee communications.
