We are currently seeking candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Controller to support our project management team, with a focus on Data Center projects. Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls, this role will collaborate closely with Project Managers and cross-functional partners in Engineering, Development, Finance, Procurement, and Operations. The Project Controller will be responsible for comprehensive budget management, cost control and reporting, ensuring the financial success of our Data Center projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for innovation and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Overview of Department

The Project Controls team consists of two controllers who work cross-functionally across all construction projects. Our involvement begins several months before construction starts, working in tandem with the development team to establish project controls frameworks. Once a project transitions to the construction phase, we assume full responsibility for budget management and reporting. We maintain oversight throughout the construction lifecycle until Commercial Operation Date (COD), when we formally hand off the project to the Operations team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Budget management and monthly reporting (using google sheets) for 6-10 concurrent active projects
  • Monthly contingency management and cash flow reporting
  • Earn value reporting for major contracts
  • Invoice reviews and verification of assignment to cost categories
  • Submit wire requests for our Project Managers on an ad-hoc basis
  • Update monthly internal and external financial reporting presentations
  • Attend weekly project meetings
  • Collaboration with Portfolio Finance and Accounting to maintain consistency across all financial reporting tools
  • Use Google Suite to create tools for further automating processes and improve reporting

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Project Controls, with a focus on budgets, for an energy company or on an energy project.
  • Experience working on Data Center construction projects is a plus
  • Expert level proficiency in Google Sheets.
  • Able to translate complex financial findings into google slides presentations
  • Ability to manage 6-10 project budgets simultaneously
  • Expert understanding of Google Suite and Slack
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction management, Finance, Accounting or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
  • Position is part of a remote team, with regular electronic and video communication
  • The position requires 4x per year travel for company-wide meetups across US & Canada and regional meetings as needed by the department.

  • Salary: USD$ 85,000 - 95,000 base salary with 20 - 25% annual target bonus
