Job Description

Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) represents Vestas' entire industrial system from Technology to Procurement, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality. In relation to Technology, VTO interfaces with Vestas' regional business units through its Frontend Engineering & Technology (FE&T) organization comprised of Regional Engineering & Technology (RE&T) teams and Global Functional Leadership teams. Regional Engineering & Technology (RE&T) Asia Pacific (APAC) represents Vestas Technology in Asia Pacific (APAC), where we operate across the spectrum of Sustainable Energy Solutions with Onshore and Offshore wind at the core.

In RE&T APAC, we are responsible for technical requirements management, technical scoping and contracting, technical value engineering, technical risk management, technical execution throughout the life cycle of a project, from Development to Sales to Customer Project Execution to Service, ensuring as such End-to-End Technical Accountability with regards to our engineering and technology solutions in the region.

The Onshore Technical Sales works on some of the renewable energy industry's most exciting technical value propositions and contracts, providing the link between our projects in Sales and Execution phase, with our customers and stakeholders in the Regional Business Unit and with our global Research & Development teams.

Responsibilities

The Lead Technical Bid Engineer role is a highly diversified role that requires technical skills and understanding combined with a solid commercial mindset.

After an intensive induction, you will be assigned to Vestas' Sales activities, as a primary technical focal point for our Japan Onshore activities, identifying market requirements and trends to feedback towards the product development team and to promote Vestas' products & solutions towards the market.

While predominantly focused on Japan, as part of the wider Asia Pacific Technical Sales and Project Management team, you may be assigned projects across the region, in both Sales and Construction project phases.

You will need to network to build relationships with the key technical stakeholders in your customers' organization, promoting their requirements inside Vestas and ensuring a compelling technical value proposition.

You will ensure timely responses to customer enquiries and RFQs, take part in and direct technical negotiations, effectively supervise the technical value engineering of customer projects, prepare clarifications and deviations to tenders, as well as technical annexes and contract schedules.

You will be the point of contact and interface between the local Sales and Project execution teams and VTO (Vestas Technology & Operations) within your project team’s constellation.

Qualifications

An Engineering degree (MEng/ BEng/ MSc or equivalent) in Electrical-, Mechanical-, Industrial Engineering or Renewable Energies,

Previous experience in wind energy, product management, technical sales or industrial/power plant equipment environment would be beneficial.

Native fluency in the Japanese language is essential

Business English speaking

Competencies

Experience with IEC and Japan standards for wind turbine design, power performance, as well as knowledge of common practice in permitting process of wind turbines in the Japan market would be beneficial.

Engaging team member with a commitment to participating in the energy transition.

Solid technical skills with problem solving attitude and proficient analytical skills. Aptitude for risk management and risk mitigation and commercial implications.

The skill to adjust, stay organized, and collaborate effectively with established experience in demanding tendering and project circumstances.

Highly motivated with solid communication skills, skilled at stakeholder management (internal and external, technical and commercial stakeholders).

Holistic understanding of the commercial and legal aspects of technical solutions.

The ability to be innovative and creative with a result-oriented customer focused mindset who can work with little supervision and with an international team.

Good organizational abilities and the ability to manage workload effectively in a busy environment.

High level of communication and negotiation skills with fluency in English and Japanese language required, both written and spoken.

Professional presentation skills with ability to present to business unit management.

Flexibility for travel across the region.
