Job Description

We’re building the future of electric mobility – and we need your engineering spark to help power it ⚡️

We combine the latest tech with human-centered design to offer highly intuitive and efficient EV chargers that ensure easier access to personal electric transport.

This gives people the freedom and potential to travel into a more sustainable future. How neat is that?

Within just a few years, we’ve built our domestic market-leading position by supplying superior charging installations for housing co-ops and private homes alike.

As a Norwegian EV pioneer, our goals are aimed at bringing the best charging technology to the rest of the world. Are you up for this challenge?

What your day would look like

At Zaptec, we’re expanding our Mechanical Development team to meet growing demand, new market requirements, and exciting innovations. If you’re a creative problem-solver who loves prototyping, testing, and designing with purpose, this might be the perfect role for you.

Within Mechanical Development, you’ll be joining Zaptec at an exciting time. As we continue to grow both in Norway and internationally, expanding production and entering new markets, the complexity and scale of our products are evolving – and we’re looking for more engineers to help shape what comes next 🙌

In this dynamic and collaborative environment, you’ll work alongside passionate colleagues who care about agility, electric mobility, power infrastructure, and renewable energy. You’ll play a key role in developing smart, robust mechanical solutions – both for new products and continuous improvements to existing ones. You’ll be part of the Mechanical Development Department, collaborating closely with other internal teams as well as external suppliers and partners.

We offer a workplace that values autonomy, creativity, and personal growth – and where your ideas can have a real and lasting impact.

Is this you?

We like to think of ourselves as changemakers and problem solvers in the electrical world. If you're someone who approaches challenges with curiosity, creativity, and a desire to improve – especially when it comes to production and optimization – and you’ve got experience working in 2D and 3D CAD systems, you might be just who we’re looking for 😎

Some personal skills we value

  • Working in a team comes naturally to you.
  • You have a natural aptitude for identifying and analyzing design challenges.
  • You 💚 designing, prototyping, tinkering - bringing mechanical ideas to life.
  • You think outside the box and enjoy finding smart, practical solutions

As for the skills required for this job

  • Proficiency in using CAD Systems such as SolidWorks, NX, Inventor, etc.
  • Experience with injection moulding.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, components, and mechanisms.
  • Ability to prototype, test, and analyze mechanical designs for performance and improvement.
  • Familiarity with various materials and their suitability for different use cases.
  • Ability to produce and review detailed technical documentation, including specifications, test reports, and assembly instructions

Bonus:

  • Experience with FEA simulations (structural strength, thermal performance, etc.)
  • Knowledge of GD&T for plastic parts.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing or woodworking.
  • Exposure to DFMEA, Lean, or statistical process control.
  • Experience working with electronics or electromechanical systems.

Maybe you don’t tick every box – that’s okay. Passion, curiosity, and potential go a long way with us 🙌

Join in! ☕️ Yes, we do spend a lot of time in front of our desks, but we also love coffee, conversations, nerdy talks, lunches and jokes. 🤡

We strive to be the best at what we do, both in the eyes of our customers and our coworkers. We believe in a flexible and trustworthy way of working. We focus on results, not necessarily the approach because we respect that each coworker has unique ways of working to reach the target. 🙌🏽

Customer experience is the core of everything we do to provide a worry-free EV life.

We believe in our employees' uniqueness and the multidisciplinary way of working, and we work collaboratively toward a common goal.
