As part of SSEN Transmission Pathway to 2030 programme of works, we have a Project Engineer- Interfaces requirement to support this incredibly exciting time for the business.
Many of the Pathway to 2030 are new HVDC projects. This role would sit in within the HVDC Engineering Team, and although direct HVDC experience would be desirable it is not necessary. We encourage candidates with a project engineering background, ideally with an electrical engineering background in either construction, consultancy, or client organisations within the Energy Industry to apply. We will consider candidates from other industries, with good transferable skills and willingness to learn.
You will
- Take the lead in coordinating design interfaces across major HVDC packages, including civils, AC systems, and cables, ensuring smooth collaboration between all parties.
- Own and manage the Design Interface Registers, working closely with contractors to align inputs, resolve design issues early, and keep project data accurate and up to date.
- Oversee the design submittals process using Autodesk Construction Cloud, helping ensure submissions are high quality, traceable, and delivered on time.
- Act as a key link between SSEN teams and external partners, keeping everyone informed with clear updates on interface risks, progress, and next steps.
- Promote a positive safety culture and support compliance with CDM regulations and SSEN's engineering standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster awareness of interface management across the project, supporting your colleagues in identifying and managing design and quality risks effectively.
You have
- A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably electrical, mechanical, or civil). Chartered status or working toward it is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience managing design interfaces across engineering work packages, ideally HVDC, with a strong focus on identifying interface risks early and implementing appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams or interfacing between contractors and client teams, with a good understanding of how design, construction, and programme interdependencies are managed.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using digital collaboration platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), or similar tools for managing design submissions, interface registers, and structured workflows.
