Job Description
Be part of a landmark project transforming Australia’s energy future. Snowy 2.0 is the nation’s largest renewable energy initiative, expanding the iconic Snowy Scheme to deliver reliable power and critical energy storage. As the client-side Owner’s Team, we lead the project’s successful delivery, working closely with delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure Snowy Hydro’s vision of a sustainable, reliable energy future becomes reality.
The Role
As the Senior Environmental Advisor (EPL), you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring proactive and effective compliance management under the Snowy 2.0 Environmental Protection Licence (EPL). You’ll lead the charge in data analysis, reporting, and assurance activities—supporting the project's environmental responsibilities and driving continuous improvement across operations.
This position is based in Cooma, with a generous relocation package available to support your move.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing all EPL monitoring activities, including regulator-issued notices
- Managing and ensuring accuracy of compliance data and database systems
- Leading development of compliance dashboards for reporting and trend analysis
- Preparing periodic reports and engage stakeholders to meet compliance requirements
- Implementing updates from water quality reviews and discharge point assessments
- Supporting and participating in external audits
- Managing delivery of EPL-related environmental areas such as air, water, noise, dust, and waste
- Collaborating with internal teams and contractors to drive environmental performance
- Supporting incident response and ensure timely reporting to regulators
- Representing Snowy 2.0 in external forums and regulatory site inspections
- Coordinating communications and assurance across all EPL premises and work sites
What You'll Bring
A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline, along with demonstrated experience in mining, civil construction, utilities or similar industries—particularly with a focus on soil, water, and contamination management. You’re confident in managing analytical databases, with strong QA/QC skills and experience using tools like EnviroSys or similar. Proactive and detail-oriented, you communicate complex ideas clearly across all levels and formats. You’re skilled in interpreting environmental data, identifying issues early, and developing innovative, practical solutions. Your strong understanding of environmental legislation and experience engaging with regulators ensures compliance and fosters trusted relationships.
