We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.

This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be working directly with the Electrical Engineering Team, supporting the core of the world's first fusion generator. You will support the main pulsed-energy drive systems for the magnetics, the energy recovery and re-distribution networks, the diagnostics, and the controls. You will also develop novel ways to measure and acquire this data from high noise, high field, and high voltage environments. You will work directly with our Electrical Engineers, and report directly to our Production Supervisor at our Everett, WA office.

You Will

  • Support the build, assembly, operation, and testing of PCBA and control systems required for running a fusion machine and multiple test systems
  • Help with the identification, installation, and implementation of test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Help create minor subassemblies and test components focused on PCBAs, pulse power electronics, electrical systems, and fast prototypes
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and service Electronics assemblies, PCBAs, and pulsed power test systems
  • Create, organize, and maintain electronic component and consumables inventory
  • Be responsible for preventative maintenance and calibration of lab equipment

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a research, fabrication, or test lab
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and interconnects
  • Solder, reflow, rework and repair PCBAs to IPC standards such as IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721
  • Experience with electronic troubleshooting and using standard benchtop tools like oscilloscopes, Eloads, FRA, Arb waveform generators, pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, DVMs
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, schematic capture, and PCB design software
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
