Job Description

At Natural Power, we’ve been driving positive change in renewable energy for over 30 years. Our Operations and Asset Management team manages more than 200 renewable sites across the UK and Europe, supported by our in-house Control Centre.

The Control Centre provides 24/7 monitoring, grid code services, health and safety coordination, and high-voltage support. We’re now looking for a Control Point Technician to strengthen this team and help us deliver safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

About the Role

As a Control Point Technician, you’ll play a vital role in the safe operation of renewable energy assets. You’ll work across high-voltage safety documentation, grid code compliance, and site outage planning, ensuring that our clients remain compliant and assets stay online.

You’ll interact directly with National Grid ESO, manage site safety documentation, and support remote switching operations. This is a dynamic role at the centre of renewable energy operations, where precision, problem-solving, and teamwork are key.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Issuing and managing HV safety and switching documentation (including Transfer of Control)
  • Managing safety document registers and contractor work orders
  • Monitoring alarms 24/7 and escalating issues in line with client procedures
  • Coordinating with NGESO to ensure compliance with grid code and contractual obligations
  • Supporting Control Point services (EDL), Trading Point services (EDT), and outage planning
  • Logging and reporting grid calls, yield forecasting, and declaring plant unavailability
  • Carrying out remote switching where authorised
  • Updating records, maintaining procedures, and supporting continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • National 5 / GCSE (grades A-C) or equivalent in English & Maths
  • Experience in a control room or process-driven operational environment
  • Knowledge of renewable energy project operations and National Grid/ESO functions
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Trained/authorised in Wind Turbine Safety Rules

Desirable

  • HND or degree in Engineering
  • Experience with HV systems and National Grid protocols
  • Previous team leader or line management experience
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills
