Job Description

Be part of a landmark project transforming Australia’s energy future. Snowy 2.0 is the nation’s largest renewable energy initiative, expanding the iconic Snowy Scheme to deliver reliable power and critical energy storage. As the client-side Owner’s Team, we lead the project’s successful delivery, working closely with delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure Snowy Hydro’s vision of a sustainable, reliable energy future becomes reality.

The Role

Based in Cooma, you'll be a key player in ensuring the civil and structural integrity of an iconic project. This role puts you at the forefront, where you'll dive deep into contractor designs. You'll review everything from calculations and drawings to advanced modeling and analyses, working as an essential part of a collaborative team to bring this project to life.

This position offers a 2-year fixed-term contract in Cooma, working a 5/2 roster. We offer relocation assistance to help make the move as smooth as possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and Verify: You will review the contractor's civil works designs, including drawings and reports, to ensure they meet Australian and international standards for safety, durability, and maintainability.
  • Technical Analysis: You'll independently perform or oversee structural analyses and computations to verify the contractor's designs are valid and structurally sound.
  • Collaborate and Advise: You will participate in meetings to resolve technical issues and work closely with other engineering teams (geotechnical, mechanical, electrical) to stay informed on critical project developments that may impact the structural design.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections: Attend on-site meetings and perform regular inspections to assist with technical advice and ensure accurate record-keeping of "as-built" designs.
  • Provide technical support to the construction team: Review construction documents, provide advice on methods and structural issues, and attend meetings focused on safety and constructability.

What You'll Bring

A minimum Bachelor of Engineering in civil or structural engineering with practical experience in civil or structural design and construction. You'll have a strong understanding and demonstrated application of Australian Standards and Guidelines for concrete and steel structures. We're looking for someone with knowledge of structural modeling, analysis, and design for these structures, along with competency in using structural computational analysis software. Familiarity with applicable Safe Work regulations and excellent communication and report-writing skills are also essential. While not required, experience in hydropower would be a plus.

The Team

At Snowy 2.0, we live by the principle of "One Team Working Together." If you’re a problem-solver with a passion for driving change and making a real impact, we want to hear from you! Join us in shaping the future of renewable energy and apply now. Together, we’ll deliver one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Australia’s history.
