We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.
Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group and new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). Now, we're turning up operations for Polaris, working towards delivering the world's first fusion power plant.
More than ever, it's a pivotal time to join us and have the opportunity to solve real challenges to create a better energy future. You will see first-hand how we value urgency, rigor, ownership, and hard truths, knowing it will take each to do what no one has before. Joining us, you will push the boundaries of what's possible and transform humanity for the better - because the world can't wait.
What You Will Be Doing
We’re hiring an Integration and Test Engineer to own cross-subsystem integration and test for Helion’s current and future fusion generator prototypes. This hands-on, on-site role in Everett, WA offers the chance to grow your technical range while driving disciplined execution through build and commissioning. You'll report directly to our Mechanical Engineering Lead and play a key role in shaping the culture of a growing team.
You Will
- Own the integration order and day-to-day execution of assembly across generator subsystems, including vacuum systems, electromagnets, high-voltage capacitor systems, controls, diagnostics, radiation safety, and more
- Develop and manage a multidisciplinary schedule on a day-by-day and week-by-week basis to drive full build completion
- Work with subsystem owners to define, plan, and execute integrated tests across subsystems
- Lead build completion reviews to ensure systems are operational and test-ready
- Collaborate closely with production, test, and engineering teams to continuously improve integration and build processes
- Partner with and author work instructions for experienced technician teams for both nominal build and non-conformance resolution
- Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions across integrated systems during build
- Drive strategies for hardware upgrades, replacements, and integration improvements to maximize generator uptime
- Perform high-level trade studies on build sequence, hardware prioritization, and resource allocation to influence how Helion builds and tests its systems
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- 3+ years of professional experience delivering on full-scope engineering projects (including schedule ownership)
- Experience applying engineering first-principles and method-based thinking to challenging problems
- Hands-on exposure to a variety of engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, fluids)
- Effective technical communication across organizational levels
