Job Description
Are you ready to shine in the solar energy industry? New Energy Equity is looking for a skilled Associate, Land Origination, to join our team! As an Associate, Land Origination, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Land Managers in identifying, assessing, and securing suitable locations for the development of community solar projects. You will contribute to the expansion of our renewable energy portfolio by providing research, analysis, and administrative support to the team. This is a hybrid role and can be based out of our Roseville, MN, Annapolis, MD or Horseheads, NY offices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Land Parcel Research
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential community solar project sites, considering factors such as solar irradiance, land use restrictions, zoning regulations, and environmental constraints.
- Utilize GIS software and other tools to analyze land suitability and potential development challenges.
- Support the coordination and execution of outreach campaigns to prospective landowners.
Due Diligence Support
- Research and documenting of items critical to confirming site viability including permitting processes, physical and environmental constraints, utility interconnection options and viability.
- Ability to obtain and review ownership deeds and property title working closely with the Real Estate team in a coordinated review of the documents.
- Gather and organize necessary documentation for land acquisition processes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support Land Managers in building and maintaining relationships with landowners, local communities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in addressing stakeholder questions and concerns necessary for advanced project development.
Project Coordination
- Provide administrative support for land acquisition projects, including scheduling meetings, tracking deadlines, and preparing reports.
- Preparation and tracking of outbound real estate documents for landowner consideration.
- Review of inbound documents from landowners and coordination with the Legal team for review, processing and execution.
- Cross departmental coordination with engineering, legal, and environmental teams to ensure project timelines are met.
- Support Land Managers is the coordination, review and execution of third-party opportunities from brokers and agents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as geography, environmental science, engineering, or business administration.
- 2+ years of renewables experience.
- Real estate experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in GIS software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- 2-3 days in the office, travel is expected to be less than 25%
The expected annual compensation range for this position is $40,000 – $50,000, encompassing base pay, potential incentive target opportunity, and additional commission eligibility. This range is a good faith estimate based on the position's requirements. Specific compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary depending on factors such as relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, including Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance and Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
