As part of its international bet on innovation, Iberdrola has set up a world-class global Innovation Center at the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). Aiming at Defining the Digital Utility, Iberdrola Innovation Middle East (ME) works at the intersection of energy and digital technologies, focusing on three key innovation and product development areas: smart grids, renewable energy integration and smart solutions for our customers.

The Company is currently under a strong growth program and looking to enhance and enlarge its team of Power Systems Engineers to undertake advanced network simulation studies, conduct techno-economic assessment of modern power systems, and define control strategies to address the amazing challenges associated to the massive integration of renewable resources and the electrification of demand. We are on the lookout for highly proficient Power Systems Engineers with strong education credentials, superior innovation skills and proven relevant experience in applied research and/or in the energy industry.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power Systems Engineering. MSc would be a plus. PhD would be a stronger plus
• Advanced level and experience in power systems simulation tools EMT/RMS (e.g., PSCAD, PSS-E and Simulink) is a must
• Experience in transmission/distribution network planning and forecast is a strong plus
• Experience in the control and protection of inverter-based systems is a strong plus
• Functional programming skills (e.g., Phyton and MATLAB) for optimization and automation of power simulations and network planning frameworks
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
• Impeccable written, verbal, and organizational skills
• Both junior (3-5 years of relevant work experience) and senior (more than 5 years’ experience) will be considered in the selection process

Preference will be given to local candidates with a valid and transferable residency permit; provisions may be made for others if deemed necessary. This is a permanent full-time role based in the Qatar Science & Technology Park.
