Job Description

Our company is part of EDP, a global energy group present in around 30 markets with a particular emphasis on renewable energies. With more than 45 years of experience, we have been consolidating a relevant presence on the world energy scene based on the commitment to be all-green by 2030, leading the energy transition. With more than 13,000 employees around the world, we are committed to using our energy and heart to drive a better tomorrow.

What you will do

We are looking for a highly experienced Electrical / Energy Renewable Engineer to lead efforts in grid analysis, curtailment mitigation, and renewable energy integration. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of renewable energy assets within (but not limited to) EU, BR and US regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in power systems and recognized collaborative skills.

  • Conduct grid impact studies, including load flow, stability, and curtailment analysis for solar, wind, and hybrid renewable projects.
  • Identify and address grid constraints that lead to curtailment, working with utilities, TSOs, and ISOs/RTOs to implement solutions.
  • Support interconnection applications and ensure compliance with EU grid codes (e.g., ENTSO-E standards) and US regulations (e.g., FERC Orders 2222 & 841, NERC reliability standards).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize renewable energy dispatch, storage integration, and grid flexibility.
  • Analyze real-time and historical curtailment data to inform operational strategies and investment decisions.
  • Contribute to grid modernization initiatives, including smart grid technologies, digital substations, and demand-side management.
  • Prepare technical documentation for regulatory filings, grid compliance reports, and stakeholder presentations.

What are we looking for

  • Experience with energy storage systems, hybrid plants, or virtual power plants.
  • Knowledge of energy market operations, forecasting, and flexibility services.
  • Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical / Renewables Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in grid analysis, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as PSS(R)E and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, grid integration challenges, and curtailment dynamics.
  • Familiarity with EU directives (e.g., Renewable Energy Directive, Electricity Market Design) and US regulatory frameworks (e.g., FERC, NERC).
  • Experience working with ISOs/RTOs and TSOs in both regions.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
