Job Description

As a Sr. Product Manager at Landis+ Gyr, this individual will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of their assigned products. Example lifecycle activities Include authoring Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), prioritization of sustainment activities, manage Investment Plan and New Product Introduction (NPI) process for assigned products. This individual will work closely with our clients and must demonstrate distinct functional and professional knowledge to ensure that the work products and deliverables are of the highest caliber to guarantee customer satisfaction. This role will require close working collaboration with Project Management, Engineering, Deployment, Sales and Marketing, and Global teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages with customers to understand their current and future needs and ability/willingness to pay to address them. Follows developments and trends in the market place and monitors competitive Intelligence. Fashions tactical product plans and multi-year roadmaps to keep Landis+Gyr at the forefront of the market
  • Manage the complete product lifecycle of the assigned products
  • Drives and contributes to Landis+Gyr's New Product Introduction (NPI) process.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Interprets customer requirements and translates to clear product requirements and use cases in PRDs/Azure Dev Ops
  • Supports R&D feasibility/traceability reviews
  • Develops complex business cases
  • Works with Technical Training and documentation to develop Product Documentation and Training
  • Works in partnership with Project Management Organization (PMO) to manage investment, product cost and timeline/time-to-market expectations
  • Presents to Executive Project Governance Boards for stage gate reviews and Change Controls
  • Manages assigned product dependencies and interrelationships to deliver a complete customer solution (hardware/software) rather than just a "Product"
  • Independently manages strategic partnerships where appropriate
  • Understands market research for addressing market and/or business needs for a product, including awareness of market trends and direction.
  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert for assigned products
  • Develops customer communications (e.g., Customer Information Letters, Product Updates, Release Notes)
  • Ensures all parts of the organization are properly educated on product feature/functionality
  • Contributes to business reviews and planning sessions
  • Supports Landis+Gyr's quality processes
  • Presents at industry events, internal sales meetings, Landis+Gyr's Exchange, and customer specific meetings
  • Manages sustainment of existing product offerings

Accountabilities

  • Expected Travel: Up to 30%
  • Leads and influences cross functional teams to develop and execute the overall strategy for assigned products.
  • Leads and mentor other product managers through work direction and guidance

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience required
  • Experience in Engineering, Marketing, Product Management, or Project Management is required.
  • Product lifecycle management experience required - inception to market
  • Bachelor's degree;, engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledgeable in electric metering and/or electric distribution systems monitoring management, and maintenance; typically skills and knowledge gained from working in an electric distribution utility or technical education.
  • Electric utility or electric utility vendor work experience preferred
  • Formal Product Management training, such as Pragmatic Marketing, and/or New Product Introduction (NPI) process desired

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements/Safety/PPE/OHSAS

  • Working Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc
  • Driving Status: Driving as required on business travel
  • Physical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English.   • Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS-18001 Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Pay is in the range of $98,122 to $142,088 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
