Job Description

Longroad Energy is a Boston, MA headquartered renewable energy developer focused on the development, ownership, and operation/asset management of wind, solar, and battery storage projects throughout North America. Job Purpose

Reporting to the onsite Operations Manager, the Site Turbine Manager oversees the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbine generators, including the troubleshooting, repair, and upkeep of mechanical and electrical systems across the site's turbine fleet. This role manages day-to-day turbine repair and maintenance activities and leads a team of technicians to ensure consistent quality, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Site Management

  • Manage, mentor, and direct onsite turbine repair and maintenance efforts, ensuring quality and performance standards are consistently met.
  • Set schedules, work orders, and assignments based on priorities established by the Operations Manager and professional judgment.
  • Lead by example to ensure compliance with all Longroad Energy Services processes, procedures, and the corporate code of conduct among all site personnel.

Turbine Operations & Maintenance

  • Safely and proficiently climb turbines to audit, inspect, and evaluate wind turbine equipment and systems.
  • Oversee site WTG spare parts and tool inventory; order and replace used or lost inventory to prevent impact to park production.
  • Manage part warranties in accordance with Company standards and interests, including timely submittal of required warranty documentation.

Safety & Compliance

  • Provide oversight of safe and reliable wind turbine operations for site personnel and contractors, including development of site procedures and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental requirements and NERC/FERC standards.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries, and complete required standard training, including CPR/First Aid, OSHA, self-rescue (descent/ascent), high-angle rescue, arc flash, LOTO, and general crane safety.

Reporting & Additional Duties

  • Prepare and submit reports as required by the Operations Manager and Longroad Energy Services.
  • Complete additional projects as assigned by the Operations Manager or other leadership.
  • Travel as needed to support site and business requirements.
  • Maintain 24/7 on-call availability to support operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in operations and maintenance of a wind or energy facility.
  • Demonstrated experience trouble shooting mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to identify, classify problems, evaluate data, establish facts and put forth educated conclusions.
  • Prior experience with budgeting, project management and contract execution.
  • Proficient computer and software skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Comfortable working at heights and the ability to perform essential physical functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation; this includes climbing 300' wind turbines, lifting 50 lbs. above head, and meeting the weight requirement of safety gear, 310 lbs. or less.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Wind Industry certifications / training
  • Technical 2- or 4-year college degree or comparable experience.
