Are you a data-orientated maintenance professional? We are looking for full-time a Maintenance Lead - Facilities to join our Operations Services team in Cooma to drive the next level of maturity in how we maintain our facilities.
About the position
In this role you will be responsible for leading and optimising the planning, scheduling, and safe delivery of maintenance coordination activities across a complex portfolio, including the Cabramurra Township, broader accommodation and housing facilities, and the Cooma Office Facilities. This role is designed to ensure uninterrupted service delivery of reactive and planned maintenance through seamless management, risk assessment, contractor oversight, and an uncompromising commitment to workplace safety.
We are looking for someone who doesn't just maintain the status quo but asks 'Why?' and 'How can we do this better?'. You will be empowered to drive the maturity of our maintenance processes, leveraging data to inform strategy and delivering operational improvements that ensure our housing, accommodation, and facilities are maintained efficiently to meet business needs.
This role is based in Cooma, working a standard Monday to Friday roster with hybrid working arrangements that include a minimum of 3 days in an office or on-site, and up to 2 days working from home. We are pleased to offer relocation support to those looking to make the move to Cooma.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance across our diverse accommodation and facilities portfolio, including the Cabramurra Township, Khancoban workers accommodation, Cooma head-office and broader housing assets.
- Apply a critical eye to triage work requests to ensure they meet business requirements and safety standards.
- Administer the Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (ellipse, upkeep) to track work and forecast expenditure; analysing data to optimise maintenance plans and cost savings for the business.
- Work closely with specialist trades to develop clear work scopes and bed down specifications for purchasing parts and acquiring services ensuring critical infrastructure operates smoothly.
- Oversee the contractor delivery of works from tender review to handover and takeover inspections, ensuring value for money and validating work is delivered to specification.
- Ensuring all works comply with regulatory requirements and standards (fire, electrical, plumbing etc) and maintaining an unwavering commitment to workplace safety through rigorous risk assessment and the implementation of interim controls when necessary.
About you
You're a natural problem-solver who isn't afraid to ask 'why' and look for better ways to work. You are tech-savvy, data-driven, and passionate about improving maintenance processes. You bring:
- Experience: Background in Facilities or Asset Management (or a relevant trade), ideally within heavy industry or large-scale infrastructure.
- Systems Skills: Proven ability using CMMS platforms (like Ellipse) for scheduling, planning, and forecasting.
- Operational Expertise: Knowledge of regulatory maintenance requirements and standards (fire, electrical, plumbing etc.) and safety compliance.
- People Skills: A track record of managing contractors and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: A proactive mindset focused on using data to drive efficiency.
