Intersect Power is a team of friends driven to preserve our planet for future generations through low-carbon energy and infrastructure solutions. Intersect Power is a privately held clean energy company bringing innovative, scalable, American-made, low-carbon solutions to its customers in global energy markets. We develop, own, and operate some of the world’s largest grid-tied clean energy resources, as well as co-located facilities for large industrial loads, including data centers, e-fuels, and other energy-intensive products. We are laser-focused on the largest, most transformative clean energy projects that decarbonize the existing power grid and bring new loads to clean generation without the need for new transmission. Intersect is redefining the scope of the clean energy industry by enabling new pathways between clean electricity and the broader economy. We are on an aggressive growth trajectory and are looking to fill key roles with talented professionals who want to make an impact.

Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office – we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area and San Diego, CA; NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently seeking candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Controller to support our project management team, with a focus on Data Center projects. Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls, this role will collaborate closely with Project Managers and cross-functional partners in Engineering, Development, Finance, Procurement, and Operations. The Project Controller will be responsible for comprehensive budget management, cost control and reporting, ensuring the financial success of our Data Center projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for innovation and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Overview of Department

The Project Controls team consists of two controllers who work cross-functionally across all construction projects. Our involvement begins several months before construction starts, working in tandem with the development team to establish project controls frameworks. Once a project transitions to the construction phase, we assume full responsibility for budget management and reporting. We maintain oversight throughout the construction lifecycle until Commercial Operation Date (COD), when we formally hand off the project to the Operations team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Budget management and monthly reporting (using google sheets) for 6-10 concurrent active projects
  • Monthly contingency management and cash flow reporting
  • Earn value reporting for major contracts
  • Invoice reviews and verification of assignment to cost categories
  • Submit wire requests for our Project Managers on an ad-hoc basis
  • Update monthly internal and external financial reporting presentations
  • Attend weekly project meetings
  • Collaboration with Portfolio Finance and Accounting to maintain consistency across all financial reporting tools
  • Use Google Suite to create tools for further automating processes and improve reporting

  • Ability to manage 6-10 project budgets simultaneously
  • Expert understanding of Google Suite and Slack
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction management, Finance, Accounting or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • A note on qualifications: Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they are able to perform every task in the job description. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job and will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.
