Job Description

At SP Energy Networks, we’re working hard to deliver a cleaner, smarter energy future. As part of the Iberdrola Group, one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies, we’re investing billions in the UK’s energy infrastructure. Join us and help shape the future of energy.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Project Manager (Delivery), you’ll be the driving force behind the development and delivery of large-scale strategic Transmission projects, managing a portfolio valued between £100m–£200m. From concept through to completion, you’ll lead the planning, coordination, and execution of complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects across the SP Transmission licence area.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing projects through their full lifecycle, from development to final closeout.
  • Leading cross-functional teams and coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
  • Delivering outputs, incentive metrics, and milestones in line with business targets.
  • Managing project risks, contracts, and financial governance.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Developing accurate capital expenditure forecasts and supporting the MSIP/LOTI process.
  • Driving innovation, value engineering, and continuous improvement.
  • Promoting stakeholder engagement and community liaison in line with SPEN’s Landowners Agreement and Code of Conduct.
  • Supporting the development of Project Managers and facilitating effective handover to Network Operations.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in project management and a passion for delivering high-value infrastructure projects. You’ll need:

  • A degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience as managing and delivering large-scale construction or civil engineering projects, ideally within the UK energy transmission sector.
  • Expertise in planning, risk and opportunity management, procurement, change and contract management, investment approval, and financial forecasting.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex, long-term projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and project planning tools.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel across SPEN locations.

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
