We want to transition the world towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. By pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology, we can make it work. We are always on the lookout for future-oriented talent - want to join the ride?

Position Summary

We are looking for an Agreement Delivery Manager to coordinate and manage the end-to-end delivery of Fleet Optimisation Solutions for marine customers.

The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and progressing multiple customer delivery projects from sales handover through equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, and operational handover. Deliveries may include hardware, software, connectivity solutions, and onboard engineering activities across individual vessels and larger fleet programmes.

The Agreement Delivery Manager works closely with customers, Sales, Contract Management, engineering, logistics, procurement, finance, technical support, external service providers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure that deliveries are completed according to the agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality, and customer expectations.

The position requires strong coordination, structured project execution, transparent communication, and the ability to manage several concurrent vessel deliveries in a dynamic international marine environment.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Planning and Execution

  • Coordinate customer delivery activities from sales handover through installation, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine delivery plans and schedules in alignment with contractual requirements, customer expectations, technical readiness, and agreed delivery milestones.
  • Define delivery activities, dependencies, critical paths, milestones, and required actions for each assigned project or vessel.
  • Coordinate the delivery of hardware, software, licenses, documentation, connectivity components, and onboard services included in the agreed scope.
  • Ensure that customer, vessel, site, technical, commercial, and delivery information is complete and maintained accurately in the relevant systems and tools.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous customer and vessel deliveries while maintaining clear priorities and control over outstanding actions.

Schedule and Progress Management

  • Maintain and actively manage project schedules throughout delivery execution.
  • Monitor progress against agreed plans, identify deviations, and initiate or recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate installation and commissioning readiness, including confirmation of hardware availability, shipment status, vessel readiness, engineer availability, required documentation, and technical prerequisites.
  • Identify project dependencies and schedule risks that may affect delivery milestones.
  • Provide realistic forecasts and maintain transparency regarding project status, delays, constraints, and expected completion dates.

Scope, Cost, and Commercial Control

  • Ensure delivery execution remains within the agreed contractual scope.
  • Review sales handover information and clarify missing, inconsistent, or unclear delivery requirements with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor project costs and support delivery budget control, including equipment, logistics, travel, engineering, subcontractor, and other delivery-related costs where applicable.
  • Identify and manage scope changes, additional customer requirements, and activities outside the agreed scope.
  • Escalate changes affecting project cost, scope, schedule, invoicing milestones, or contractual commitments.
  • Support timely invoicing by confirming the completion of relevant delivery milestones and providing the required information to Finance and other responsible functions.

Stakeholder and Customer Coordination

  • Act as the main delivery coordination point for assigned projects and maintain regular communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate delivery expectations, responsibilities, dependencies, required customer actions, progress, and changes in a timely and clear manner.
  • Facilitate cooperation among Sales, Contract Management, engineering, technical support, logistics, procurement, finance, product teams, external service providers, agents, and vessel representatives.
  • Coordinate technical and operational activities without replacing the accountable technical specialists or commercial owners.
  • Organize and lead project meetings, progress reviews, readiness checks, and other delivery-related coordination meetings when required.
  • Maintain professional customer communication and support the resolution of delivery-related concerns and escalations.

Resource and Capacity Coordination

  • Identify engineering, coordination, logistics, and other resource requirements for assigned deliveries.
  • Coordinate resource needs with the relevant line managers, resource coordinators, and operational teams.
  • Contribute to workload and capacity planning by maintaining reliable project forecasts and expected resource demand.
  • Support efficient use of internal and external resources across multiple vessel deliveries.
  • Highlight capacity constraints, scheduling conflicts, and resource gaps early enough for prioritization or corrective action.

Risk, Issue, and Change Management

  • Identify, document, assess, and monitor project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
  • Develop and coordinate practical mitigation and contingency actions with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage delivery changes and emerging constraints.
  • Escalate business-critical risks, unresolved blockers, customer concerns, and material deviations through the appropriate governance channels.
  • Support structured resolution of issues and conflicts affecting the successful delivery of assigned projects.

Reporting and Delivery Governance

  • Provide accurate status updates, forecasts, progress measurements, and management reporting throughout project execution.
  • Maintain project documentation, decisions, actions, risks, changes, and delivery evidence in the relevant company systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable delivery processes, approval requirements, governance practices, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Ensure that agreed deliverables and acceptance criteria are completed before project closure.
  • Close projects in a structured manner, including completion confirmation, handover, financial follow-up, and documentation of outstanding obligations where applicable.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery processes, tools, templates, reporting, and ways of working.
  • Identify recurring delivery problems, bottlenecks, and unclear ownership and propose practical improvements.
  • Capture and share lessons learned and good practices from completed projects.
  • Support standardization and consistent execution across customer, vessel, and fleet deliveries.
  • Participate in cross-functional improvement initiatives related to delivery quality, lead time, customer experience, operational efficiency, and project transparency.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, marine technology, business, project management, or another relevant field.

Relevant experience in project delivery, project coordination, contract delivery, system integration, or a comparable customer-facing operational role.

Practical understanding of project planning, scheduling, risk management, cost control, change management, and progress reporting.

Experience coordinating multiple parallel projects or customer deliveries.

Strong written and spoken English.

Ability to work effectively with internationally distributed customers, colleagues, suppliers, and service partners.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the maritime, marine technology, navigation, digital solutions, electronics, telecommunications, or industrial system-integration environment.

Experience delivering solutions that combine hardware, software, logistics, installation, and commissioning.

Understanding of vessel operations, onboard installation activities, ship-management organizations, or marine customer environments.

Experience coordinating engineers, subcontractors, agents, logistics providers, or other external delivery partners.

Familiarity with ERP, CRM, project-management, planning, reporting, or service-management systems.

Recognized project-management training or certification is considered an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

Strong planning, coordination, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage several deliveries simultaneously and maintain control of priorities, actions, and deadlines.

Analytical and structured approach to schedules, risks, dependencies, costs, and delivery data.

Strong stakeholder-management and customer-communication skills.

Ability to communicate complex delivery situations clearly and practically.

Proactive approach to problem-solving, escalation, and follow-up.

Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to changing customer, vessel, and operational requirements.

Commercial awareness and understanding of the relationship between scope, schedule, cost, quality, and customer expectations.

Ability to influence and coordinate contributors without relying on direct line authority.

Collaborative working style, high integrity, accountability, and customer focus.

Willingness and ability to learn new products, technologies, systems, and delivery models.

Role Scope and Impact

The Agreement Delivery Manager independently coordinates more complex individual-vessel deliveries and fleet-level delivery programmes. The role contributes directly to delivery performance through structured planning, effective stakeholder coordination, risk-aware execution, reliable reporting, and efficient use of resources.

The position does not necessarily perform every technical or operational delivery activity directly. Instead, the Agreement Delivery Manager ensures that responsibilities are clear, dependencies are managed, required actions are progressed, and the different contributors work together toward successful delivery.

The Agreement Delivery Manager may also support less-experienced colleagues by sharing delivery practices, tools, lessons learned, and practical guidance. This does not imply formal line-management responsibility unless separately specified in the organization structure.

Additional Information

The responsibilities listed above are illustrative and not exhaustive. The position holder may be assigned other reasonable responsibilities consistent with the purpose and level of the role.

At Wärtsilä we value, respect and embrace all our differences, and are committed to diversity, inclusion and equal employment opportunities; everyone can be their true self and succeed based on their job-relevant merits and abilities.
