Job Description
The position is critical in the implementation and management of Electrical Safety in Iberdrola's Projects and Operational sites.
The role will actively support, promote and coordinate Electrical safety using the IBRO E&M safety rules across all offshore Projects and Operational Sites at a global scale.
The role will be a global focal point of contact to consult with over implementation and further development opportunities relating to the IBRO Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules.
The Electrical Safety Team lead - will report directly to the H&S Compliance Manager and take accountability to support the H&S Compliance Manager in the assurance of Electrical Safety for the offshore business.
The Electrical Safety Team lead - will lead a small team of direct and indirect Electrical Safety Specialists from different geographical regions.
With the growing portfolio of projects, it has become clear that there is a need to centrally support the Projects and Operations teams in HV Safety. The Electrical Safety Team lead is required to support Lead Commissioning Managers, Operational Site Managers and the H&S Compliance Manager not just at project level but also at group and offshore business level so that knowledge, experience and requirements are standardized and consistent.
The objective is to create a centralized approach in managing Electrical and Mechanical Safety across the IBRO Global Business. The Electrical Safety Team Lead will support the H&S Compliance manager by driving the direction of the safety rules and ensuring all stakeholders are part of this global centralised approach.
What you'll be doing
The Electrical Safety Team Lead will assist the H&S Compliance Manager with the deployment of the IBRO Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules at a global scale. They will work closely with Site based HV specialists and H&S teams from other global regions to ensure that correct Electrical safety process is understood and followed correctly.
The Electrical Safety Team Lead will provide direct support to the Project Safety Rules committees on a global scale. They will also deputise the H&S Compliance Manager within the IBRO Offshore safety rules committee. They will carry out safety rule authorisation process for all operational staff (APs, SAPs, and Control Persons) in line with the appropriate IBRO Process.
The Electrical Safety Team lead will provide clarity and resolve any electrical safety or safety rules related issue including involvement in RCA where safety rules breaches have been identified.
The Electrical Safety Team lead will focus on the preparation of new sites under construction to ensure that commissioning have suitable numbers of persons authorised under the safety rules, as well as supporting the transition to the O&M phase of the project.
What you'll bring
- Fluent in English. (German, Spanish or French is a plus)
- As this role directly supports our operational teams in construction and O&M the applicant's background must be from a High Voltage operational area. Previous experience as an SAP or Control Engineer or Designated Engineer is essential.
- Knowledge of technical specifications in the relevant geographical areas of operation is required e.g. by NGET, RTE, 50Hz.
- The ability to manage people in a small team of people in terms of safety guidance.
- The ability to interface and influence stakeholders from senior leaders to technicians at site level in terms of safety guidance.
- Autonomy and ability to make and manage safety decisions on their own.
- Strong knowledge of offshore wind renewables site configurations and assets is required.
- Proficient knowledge about High/Low voltage equipment related to high voltage substations and submarine to land transmission cables.
- Able to understand and interpret electrical engineering drawings.
- In-depth understanding of Wind Turbine Generators, Offshore Substations, Onshore Substations & inter array packages and SCADA systems.
- Ability to obtain knowledge of HVDC systems, their construction, commissioning and operational protocols.
- Highly experience in the field of power systems control and monitoring including full understanding of the philosophy of a safe system of work.
- Understand and work in-line with up-to-date database technology.
- Lead and coordinate meetings with multiple stakeholders whilst generating meeting minutes, developing actions and setting clear deadlines.
- Track and follow up on items/actions generated in meetings and disseminates data & information.
- Knowledge of both construction and O&M operations and practices.
