Dandelion Energy is transforming how homes are heated and cooled-starting from (below) the ground up. As the nation's leading residential geothermal company, we design, install, and maintain all-in-one heating and cooling systems that are cleaner, quieter, and up to 4x more efficient than traditional HVAC, with a focus on large, scaled deployments to large homebuilders. We're an ambitious (and growing) team on a mission to revolutionize home heating.
Backed by Google Ventures (GV) and other top tech investors, our end-to-end geothermal solution is breaking the status quo of residential heating and cooling technology, and we're scaling rapidly to meet demand. Whether we're serving national homebuilders or individual homeowners, our mission is the same: to make geothermal the default choice for heating and cooling in the U.S.
About the Job
As the Piping & Excavation Foreman at Dandelion Energy, you'll be both a technical expert and leader for our geothermal Ground Loop Commissioning (GLC) operations in Colorado.
You'll work side by side with field crews to excavate trenches, fuse HDPE pipe, flush and fill ground loops, and commission systems - while also serving as the go-to technical and operational resource for the Denver, Colorado area. You'll play a critical role in ensuring that projects are delivered safely, correctly, and efficiently, and that your teammates have the training, tools, and support they need to succeed.
This is a player-coach role: you'll be on site most days working on live projects, while also taking responsibility for team performance, safety, and quality.
No geothermal experience? No problem. We'll train this employee in-house on fusion, pressure testing, and commissioning, as well as cover their IGSHPA fusion certification.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead for all Ground Loop Commissioning activities in the Denver region, including trenching, piping, fusion, flushing/filling, and loop commissioning
- Interpret construction drawings, mark out trench routes, and ensure every system is installed to spec
- Work hands-on in the field to fuse HDPE pipe, mount valve assemblies, and perform system tests that guarantee performance and reliability
- Capture QA data and photos in SiteCapture to maintain accurate, real-time project records
- Troubleshoot and resolve field issues quickly to keep jobs moving and teams productive
- Train and coach crew members, helping them build technical skill, confidence, and safety awareness
- Provide input to leadership on materials, crew planning, and process improvements to optimize field operations
- Model high standards for safety, quality, and teamwork every day on site
- Partner closely with Drilling, HVAC, and QA teams to ensure smooth handoffs and continuous improvement
You Will Thrive in This Role If You:
- Love being in the field every day and leading by example
- Are a natural problem-solver and hands-on technical expert
- Take pride in delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient work
- Enjoy teaching, supporting, and elevating the people around you
- Are a clear, consistent communicator who can keep everyone on the same page
- Want to be part of a fast-growing, mission-driven company building the future of heating and cooling
Must-Haves
- 3+ years of experience in field installation or construction - geothermal, plumbing, excavation, or mechanical systems preferred
- Ability to understand site drawings and apply them directly in the field
- Strong technical expertise in HDPE piping systems, fusion, pressure testing, flushing/filling, and commissioning preferred
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams in a hands-on environment
- Experience operating heavy equipment (mini-excavators, skid steers, etc.)
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing physical labor
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites within the Denver, Colorado area
