Job Description

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Software Quality Manager to lead our quality assurance efforts across the software platforms in our integrated battery storage systems. This role bridges the gap between digital innovation and physical product reliability, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive software quality assurance (SQA) strategy aligned with company goals.
- Build, lead and mentor a Software QA team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Oversee testing of embedded firmware, software, and cloud-based applications that interface with battery storage hardware.
- Define and enforce quality metrics, test plans, and validation protocols for software releases.
- Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration and performance.
- Establish and maintain QA processes in line with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC 61508 etc.).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards relevant to energy storage and software systems.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for software-related issues in the field.
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and customer support teams to ensure end-to-end product quality.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and release planning to embed quality early in the development lifecycle.
- Champion the use of automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and defect tracking systems.
- Evaluate and implement new tools to enhance test coverage and efficiency.
- Provide leadership and coaching to software test engineers, apprentices, and manufacturing employees on software quality and testing
- May be asked to travel to assist with in-field operations and troubleshooting activities
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned at any time based on business needs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with embedded systems, linux based platforms, or energy storage technologies strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in QA tools (e.g., JIRA, Jenkins, TestRail etc.).
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles (Agile, Scrum, V-model).
- Familiarity with hardware/software integration testing and validation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS) or energy storage platforms preferred
- Knowledge of cybersecurity standards for embedded and cloud-based systems preferred
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or related field required
- Minimum 7 years of experience in development, design, testing, and validation
- 3-5 years of experience in leading or managing technical teams
Travel
- Local Travel: 10--25%
- Overnight/North America: 10-25%
Working Conditions
- Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Customer/Partner Locations - Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
