Key Responsibilities

  • Wastewater Treatment:
    • Monitor and operate wastewater treatment systems ensuring effluent quality meets regulatory standards.
    • Help troubleshoot and optimize treatment processes to improve efficiency and compliance when necessary.
    • Maintain records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Air Emissions Management:
    • Monitor air emission sources
    • Ensure compliance with air quality permits and regulations (IDEM, EPA)
    • Participate in air emissions inventory and reporting activities.
    • Implement corrective actions for any deviations or violations.
  • Hazardous Waste Management:
    • Manage hazardous waste generation, storage, labeling, and disposal in accordance with regulations (e.g., RCRA).
    • Maintain hazardous waste manifests and related documentation.
    • Train employees on hazardous waste handling and emergency response procedures.
    • Coordinate with waste disposal contractors and regulatory inspectors.
  • EHS Compliance & Support:
    • Assist with environmental inspections, audits, and investigations.
    • Maintain environmental permits, records, and reports.
    • Support health and safety initiatives related to environmental hazards.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for EHS incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in wastewater treatment, air emissions monitoring, and hazardous waste management within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations including Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, and state/local environmental laws.
  • Familiarity with environmental sampling methods, instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and environmental management software.
  • Certifications such as OSHA HAZWOPER, or Air Quality Certification are a plus.
