The Area Sales Manager is accountable for generating sales volume and attaining sales objectives for the assigned sales region (MIDWEST REGION). Responsible for planning and coordinating all channel partners and developing business opportunities. Develops and maintains productive working relationships with the customer, manufacturer representatives, and distributors. Develops and maintains a high level of product and product application knowledge. Conducts sales calls designed to increase product placement. Participates in meetings as assigned and keeps Senior Management well informed of area activities and challenges. Makes recommendations to management regarding products, pricing and sales projections.

Education and Experience
- Required Level of Education: Bachelors Degree
- Required Years of Experience: 5+ to 7
- Required/Desired Certifications: Must possess a valid driver's license and passport to travel both domestically and internationally
- Desired Education/Experience:Solid understanding of electric utilities, meter and AMI technologies. Strong knowledge of company's products. Knowledge of channel development strategies. Thorough understanding of sales functions. Four-year degree from an accredited college and/or university is preferred. Or five years of proven sales experience in the electrical industry

- Researches, develops, and implements area sales plan, programs, policies, and goals which further strategic objectives and expand business opportunities
- Promote and differentiate product and services
- Conducts sales presentations to all levels of the sales channel
- Conducts regular sales calls to build Landis+Gyr presence - customer, manufacturer representative and distributor
- Follows up on product leads, and tracks major transactions through closing
- Monitors sales performance - customer, manufacturer representative and distributor
- Develops specific action plans to improve sales channel opportunites
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of Landis+Gyr products in order to create and deliver presentations, answer product and application questions, and provide support, including product training, to customers, agents, and distributors
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of customer/client systems, operations, applications, and needs
- Assists and supports management and other company departments regarding long and short term planning and directives
- Networks with trade contacts, professional organizations, and external sources to further develop channel partners and growth opportunities
- Maintains a current knowledge of industry trends, opportunities, channels, products, and competitors to support the identification of business development opportunities
- Submits accurate, timely, and complete reports to management as scheduled
- Communicates related information regularly to management

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements/Safety/PPE/OHSAS
- Working Conditions: Typical field work environment; occasionally interacting with external customers/clients. Outdoor work in inclement weather conditions possible. Requires ability to consistently drive to various work sites.
- Driving Status: Will travel on business for the company more than 6 times per year.
- Physical Requirements: Typical field setting. Regularly stand; walk; crouch; climb ladders or handle objects. Regularly lift and/or move 20 pounds; up to 45 pounds. Ability to work in open environment w/external noise and other distractions. Ability to see, hear, & speak in English. - Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS-18001 Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $98,122 - $142,088 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
