Job Description

As a Logistics Coordinator you will liaise with the various DEME Activity Lines (mainly offshore) and be tasked to work out complete supply chain solutions for tender- and project-purposes. The supply chain scopes will mostly be characterized by being complex and/or of high-value (e.g. transport of Foundations, setting up a marshalling harbour, etc.), and which are deemed a critical part of DEME's construction projects!

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the logistical needs of internal clients (tenders or projects), keeping in mind any relevant input from all stakeholders;
  • Work out entire supply chain solutions for offshore construction projects (mainly offshore windmill farms) during tender and preparation phase;
  • Follow up, monitor and adjust the supply chain during the execution phase of a project and follow-up on subcontractor performance;
  • Prepare budgets and comprehensive documents (e.g. Method Statements, etc.);
  • Act as internal point of contact for all logistic and shipping related questions, both for tender and project teams
  • Support DEME category buyers in drafting Requests for Quotations towards 3rd party providers such as shipping companies, ports, heavy lift companies and terminal operators;
  • Analyze and compare incoming quotations and proposals;
  • Take part in rate- and contract negotiations with potential subcontractors;
  • You report to the Category Manager Project Logistic.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Business Administration / Applied Economics, Business Engineer, Engineering, Supply Chain Management degree, nautical degree or equivalent by experience in the maritime industry in any position which has given you sufficient exposure to projects and vessels;
  • Good knowledge about logistics, shipping and/or port & terminals;
  • Experience with breakbulk or heavy cargoes is a plus;
  • Team player with a positive attitude and open mindset;
  • Outstanding communication skills, able to deal with different levels, both internal and external, such as project managers, tender engineers, subcontractors, port authorities and customers;
  • Speak and write English fluently;
  • Numerate and analytical;
  • Computer literate / basic Excel-knowledge;
  • Be able to go on short-term missions abroad for meetings, preparation of activities, etc. (varying between a couple of days to weeks).
