Job Description

As an IoT Network & Cybersecurity Engineer, you will step into a dynamic environment where operational technology, connectivity and security come together. You will help safeguard and optimize DEME's operational networks, specifically related to our vessels. That means designing, securing and troubleshooting the critical systems that make our pioneering projects possible.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance and security of our industrial communication and OT infrastructure. As part of a multidisciplinary, hands-on team bridging engineering, IT and operations you help to safeguard critical systems through professional network administration, robust routing & switching, and industrial cyber-security practices.

If you thrive on solving complex networking challenges, safeguarding critical systems and exploring new technologies, this role offers an exciting next step in your career journey.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and maintain network infrastructure across vessels and industrial operations, including routing, switching, VLANs and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and resolve networking challenges that impact operational systems and critical equipment.
  • Strengthen DEME's industrial cybersecurity by performing risk assessments, implementing hardening techniques, managing secure remote access and monitoring for vulnerabilities.
  • Support and optimize communication between OT/industrial systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA/DA, ...).
  • Use scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash...) to streamline network configurations, monitoring and maintenance tasks.
  • Document network and cybersecurity architectures, configurations and updates with accuracy and clarity.
  • Travel occasionally (20%) to vessels and project locations to support onsite infrastructures and see your work and impact come to life.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, ICT, Industrial Automation, Electronics, Electromechanics or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in networking, cybersecurity, industrial automation or OT systems.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, network segmentation and secure connectivity.
  • Familiarity with OT/industrial protocols and systems (PLC/SCADA, Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP...).
  • Understanding of security standards such as IEC 62443 or NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Scripting or automation skills to support network or security tasks.
  • A collaborative mindset, the confidence to challenge yourself and the drive to deliver high-quality results.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative and supportive environment with internal experts across disciplines.
  • The opportunity to work on innovative, large-scale marine and offshore projects.
  • Career development in a global company that values initiative and expertise.
