Venture Solar

Company Overview

Venture Solar

Brooklyn, New York, United States

2015 with founders Alex Yackery and Alex Giles

Over 300 employees, with revenue estimates ranging from ~$41M to $232M according to various sources.

What They Do

Venture Solar specializes in the installation of residential and small commercial rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, focusing on high-efficiency panels and comprehensive service offerings. Their technology emphasizes US-made solar panels and a 25-year manufacturer warranty, which they present as a key differentiator in the competitive solar market. The company provides a full suite of services including site assessment, design, permitting, installation, and ongoing monitoring, ensuring that all work is performed in-house rather than outsourced. This approach allows them to maintain quality control and customer satisfaction, particularly in the unique building environments of New York City and Long Island, where they have significant operational experience.

Projects & Track Record

Venture Solar has achieved significant milestones in its relatively short history, including the completion of its 1,000th installation in New York City by 2017 and claims of having installed over 7,000 systems across its service areas. Their geographic footprint spans ten states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, including New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The company has been recognized as a top dealer for SunPower, winning awards such as the Residential Regional Dealer of the Year in 2017, which underscores their commitment to high-quality installations and customer service. While specific large-scale projects are not extensively documented, their focus remains on residential and small commercial installations, which are critical to their growth strategy.

Recent Developments

In the past two years, Venture Solar has not publicly announced any major acquisitions or funding rounds, which is consistent with its status as a privately held company. Their website and blog primarily highlight past milestones, such as the opening of their Long Island branch in 2018, but do not feature recent high-profile transactions or new funding announcements. The lack of recent press coverage may indicate a focus on consolidating their existing operations and enhancing service delivery rather than pursuing aggressive expansion or external financing.

Working There

Venture Solar offers a variety of roles across different departments, including sales, installation, project management, and customer service. The company emphasizes in-house career paths and growth opportunities, which is reflected in their recruitment language. Employee reviews on platforms like Comparably suggest a culture that values teamwork and professional development, although specific benefits such as health insurance and retirement plans are not comprehensively detailed on their public pages. Prospective employees are encouraged to review current job postings on their careers page for the most accurate information regarding roles and benefits.
